INTRODUCTION
Project management is an essential process which effectively manages all activities
which are related to project. It becomes very important for construction sector because there are
many projects which they deal every day (Heldman, 2018). It is identified that project
management is necessary for manages all activities such as arrangement of raw materials,
adopting new technologies, recruitment of human resource, etc. It becomes the responsibility of
construction companies that they’ve built their project in an innovative way. In this context, four
important projects are undertaking in order to analyse the construction program of Brazil
Football World Cup 2014, London Olympics 2012, Russia 2018 FIFA construction, and
construction of New Tottenham Hotspur stadium. This report critically analyse stakeholders,
strategic alignment, decision making process, innovation and collaboration, challenges and their
solutions in order to complete the project successfully. These all are important construction
programs which are critically analyse their so that it will help in project management.
MAIN BODY
Brazil football World Cup 2014
Project or programme description
It was 20th FIFA World cup that was organised in Brazil. FIFA is an international
governing body that is associated with football. It is non-profit organisation that takes care of
futsal, football, and beach soccer(Fioravanti and et. al., 2018). It is one of the highest governing
bodies of football association. In 2014 Brazil got the chance for the second time to conduct the
completion in the nation. It was liked by all the fans and they enjoyed it a lot. It is important to
note that 31 national teams participated in the competition and it was help at 12 venues in Brazil.
Total of 64 matches took place.
Stakeholders
Stakeholders are the persons that are involved in a project. In relation to stakeholders of
Brazil football World Cup 2014 are eight sponsors, six partners, and eight national supporters.
All these people play a vital role in the game. They are interested in the game as well as are
affected by the FIFA World cup.
Strategic alignment

It is a process that helps to organise all the resources in an effective manner so that all the
work is in support of project. The success of project is dependent on the strategy alignment. It
plays a vital role to manage all the important tools of the project (Koke and Moehler, 2019). It is
said that the benefit of Brazil football World Cup 2014 is to make planning in an effective way
and work to achieve the goals and objectives of the programme. Then all the work is done as per
the planning.
Decision- making
It is important to take decisions at each and every level. Effective decision making plays
a vital role in success of a project. The key decision making in Brazil football World Cup 2014
are as follows:
 Quality: They took care of the quality of the work that is organised. It is seen that all the
work is done effectively and that is the reason audience are satisfied and happy with the
game and competition.
 Cost: It is important to take the decision related to decision in an effective manner. As the
budget plays a vital role in success of the project. The cost involved in World Cup in
Brazil is around is $11.6 billion.
 Delivery: It was help in 2014 from June 12 to July 13. It was 20th edition of footballs
biggest of the world.
Challenges in the project and the way to solve them
 There was lack of money as the country was in debt. They have to spend billions on the
stadiums(Puška and et. al., 2020). So, they should have prepared for the same and then
held the event.
 In Brazil there is problem of child labour and that is the reason they became victim at that
time also. There should be strong laws that stop child labour.
 They have faced various problems related to infrastructure and have to construct the
stadium in hurry. They should have constructed the stadiums in advance so that there is
no problem in end.
Role of innovation and collaboration
Innovation plays a vital role in nowadays. It is important to take care of innovation in
each and every project. It is seen that by using the concept of innovation the project can be used

in a sustainable manner (Cerdeiral and Santos, 2019). As they have to rush to construct the
stadiums so by using the new technology they and sustainable manner it will be effective.
Construction of new Tottenham hotspur stadium
Project or programme description
It is a new stadium that was built in 2019. It is seen that 62850 seat stadium that was
constructed for football in White Hart Lane Stadium. It is third largest stadium in England. It is
also important to note that it is first largest stadium in London.

The stakeholders that are involved in case of Tottenham hotspur stadium National
Basketball Association, Football League, sponsors, audience and media.
Strategic alignment
It is important to take care of all the resources and use them to form strategies that help to
attain the goals of construction (Burkov and et. al., 2018). They took care of quality of all the
points that are important for construction. It is seen that latest technology is used for the same.
Decision- making
The decision making plays a vital role in successful completion of the project.
 Quality: It is seen that this stadium is made with quality as it is largest stadium in
London.
 Cost: The money involved in construction of new Tottenham hotspur stadium $1 Billion
Stadium.
 Delivery: The time of construction of new Tottenham hotspur stadium is from 2016 to
2019. It started on 3 April 2019.
Challenges in the project and the way to solve them
 The problem was related to design of the stadium and to arrange the best
capacity(Mishra, 2019). For that the design that was decided was to use the space in an
optimal manner and arrange maximum seats.
 It took time in construction of the stadium. There is need of proper planning and effective
management of construction.
 Due to construction of Tottenham hotspur stadium the accident rate raised by 39%.
Role of innovation and collaboration

Innovation plays a vital role in the success story of construction of Tottenham hotspur
stadium. It is seen that they used process innovation and made the design of the stadium in a way
so that maximum people can be seated (Kerzner, 2017). They used new and updated technology
for the construction. It is designed in such a way that is a multi-tasking stadium.
Analysis of London 2012, Olympics
Project description
London 2012 summer Olympic Games which involves 10568 athletes (Kostalova and
Tetrevova, 2018). It was an international multi sport event which head in London, UK. It was a
large project which needs to integrate with public, environment and society.
Stakeholders
The stakeholders of London 2012 summer Olympic Games are London organising
committee, international Paralympics committee, transport for London, partners, international
industry and responses are the main stakeholders. This plays a very important role in project of
London 2012.
Strategic alignment
It becomes necessary for a project manager that they should adopter strategic alignment
for or focusing on structure of project and allocation of resources (Zaitseva and et. al., 2018).
Strategic alignment becomes very helpful for members and teams of project as it create values
for owners, audiences, community, etc. Project of London 2012 Olympics, it is identified that
they are focusing on important three things that are aims, plans, and actions.
Decision making
All decisions related to the quality, cost and delivery of London 2012 Olympic is taken
by board of directors. It includes all important stakeholders which mutually take a decision for
London 2012 Olympic Games. They take decision in order to provide best quality of
construction with minimum cost on time.
Challenges
It was a large project that faces the challenges of cost because the estimated budget was
9.3 billion pound suggested by London organising committee of Olympic and Paralympics
games. It was identified that budget was too expensive which needs to be cover. Along with this,
defacer issue of time perspective as it was the large project which has a seating capacity of

80000 that needs to be completed on time. For that reason, they face some delays due to vastness
of project.
Problems encountered
To deal with challenges that face by London Olympic 2012 games, the London
committee was managing cost with the help of project management. They gave pressure to
project manager in order to complete the project with estimated budget. They also communicated
with their problem with all stakeholders which helps to resolve their issues and problems.
Role of innovation and collaboration
London Olympics 2012 games adopted a innovation in their marketing practices. It was a
project which shows how effective management of innovation can be done with the help of
collaboration. They gave main focuses on innovation in social media marketing and information
and communication Technology (Machuca-Villegas, and Gasca-Hurtado, 2018). For that
purpose, they make a plan for effectiveness of project. With the help of innovation the marketers
can successfully e-marketing with innovative media. At the same time, collaboration is must for
completion of project because for a large project team collaboration plays a very important role.
Team collaboration is necessary in the construction of project London Olympic 2012. Team
collaboration helps to reduce disagreements, disputes, etc.
Initiatives adopted for supporting team collaboration
It is very clearly shown that London 2012 Olympic Games need team collaboration
which was successfully considered by the committee of London Olympic Games. For that
purpose, there are some initiatives which were taken by committee in order to manage their
project:
 For managing the team effectively London committee takes a step towards leadership.
That means they focus is on effective leadership styles.

Russia 2018 FIFA
Russian cities were assigned for hosting a FIFA world Cup 2018. It was the project that
big project that focuses on football tournament (Müller, Packendorff and Sankaran, 2017). The
construction was very tough as they faced lots of criticism. It was including 113 training sites, 12

stadiums, 11 airports, 62 hotels, etc. It was a infrastructure program that was undertaken by
Russian Ministry of sport.
Stakeholders
The stakeholders of Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup are sponsors, local organising
committee, etc. The take a decision for gathering and analysing data related to the infrastructure
of FIFA World Cup. Stakeholders take a decision that they have to give legacy with contribution
in economic growth and regional development of country.
Strategic alignment
For infrastructure development of Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, they make a strategy in
order to complete the infrastructure program successfully so that they can able to achieve their
goal. It was very important for Russian government as they took decision in 2018 that consists of
292 facilities with essential for holding tournament.
Decision making
The decision was taken by Russian ministry of sport and set a budget of total RUB 664.1
billion. The half of this budget was funding from federal budget. They also took decision for
transport infrastructure facilities.
Challenges
Russian ministry of sports was facing many challenges in order to complete the project.
As it was not easy for them and they face many failures in construction. It is identified that
approximate 10,000 construction workers were employed in the renovation of 10 stadiums for
infrastructure development of FIFA World Cup Russia. It became very tough situation for them
to manage workers and they also takes a problem of migrant workers.
Problems encountered
For dealing with such failures Russian ministry of transport to cut decision that they are
proposing on site management. That means they are continuously looking forward to manage the
workers performance so that they can successfully achieve their objective.
Innovation and collaboration
They focus on collaboration so that infrastructure project was completed on time with
innovative ideas. They were encountered a minimum 10 stadiums in FIFA World Cup in which
focusing on innovation as they are using latest technology for renovation.
Initiatives supported for team collaboration

It became very important for FIFA World Cup 2018 infrastructure program in Russia that
steps for collaboration their workers in order to manage migrant workers. For that purpose, the
project manager was strictly take action towards communicating the goal of infrastructure
program. They were looking forward to communicate with migrants workers in order to clarify
their problems and able to managing their work in a collaborative manner. They founded team
collaboration in the best way to complete their project and that's why they focus on taking
initiative which is supported to team collaboration.
Reflection
It is analysed that cooperation and understanding plays a vital role in team project. Our team
faced number of challenges in the starting of the project, but then I was leader of the team and
lead the team. We distributed the roles and responsibilities and assigned duty to each and every
team member so that the work in completed (Kononenko and Lutsenko, 2017). Along with that
we were lacking time so we decided a time schedule and followed that. It helped to work and
achieves all the tasks on time. Completing the project on time is helpful as we were able to ask
for the problems that we faced. It is seen that it plays a vital role in completing the work on time.
There is requirement of various skills while doing the team project:
 Coordination: With the help of coordination we were able to work together. It helped us
to help each other and solve the problems that occur in the path. So it is vital to have
coordination in team.
 Communication skills: There is need of proper communication to complete a group task.
As all the people that are involved should interact with each other and understand them. It
helps to complete the work effectively as well as on time,
 Time management: With the help of managing time we were able to complete the project
on time. It is important to complete the assigned project on time.
 Leadership Skills: It is vital to have a leader that manages the team and takes care of all
the members of the team. It is important to give direction and motivate them to work.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that it is important to manage the project. It is
important to know about the strategies that will help to complete the project effectively and on
time. There are various projects that are undertaken. There is discussion related to the
programmes, strategic alignment in the project. There is discussion related to the stakeholders
that are involved in the project along with that decision making plays a vital role in success of
project. In the end of report there is discussion related to innovation and its importance in the
project. There is reflection related to team work in the project.
