A description of the group research topic and the overall aim
The research topic for the entire group is “Analysis of effective negotiation for construction
projects". It has been addressed that negotiation is an important element that is becoming more
and more prevalent in the societies. It is one of the important elements that need to be understood
in order to ensure systematic operations and better identify the scope of the project work. In
context of the project of construction, the process of negotiation play a major and effective role
in resolving of the conflicts of the various key parties associated with the project work. Apart
from that it has been identified that the parties associated with the project may have different and
diverse needs, requirements, goals and interest. Such differences in the points of significance
lead to the aspects of the conflicts among the parties (Fu & Ren, 2013). This lead to the series of
the barriers and the complexities and issues. In this respect, the most effective technique that
supports in dealing with such aspects involves negotiation. In addition, it has been elaborated it
is necessary and essential that the experts and the professional engaged in the process of
negotiation understand each aspect and act in a systematic manner to have better agreements.
This will as such assist in the attainment of the objectives related to the project of construction.
The main aim of the research work is to ensure suitable command on the disputes among the
related parties such that to ensure suitable resolving of their issues and differences. Apart from
that the aim of the research is to attain the best possible outcome related to the project so that the
objectives can be attained in the desired manner. With this aim suitable issues and complexities
can be effectively addressed leading to better operations.
Background of the research project
The background of the research work addresses on the effective and suitable analysis and
evaluation of the varied aspects that are associated with the project of construction. With such
aspects the various factors of significance and the complexities that can be faced by the parties
related to the project of construction. With the suitable understanding of the background the
parties can gain suitable and effective knowledge on the process of negotiation. It will also assist
in the gaining of the suitable command on all the facts and aspects leading to the better
attainment of the aims and objectives. In addition the parties can also ensure to devise suitable

planning procedure that can ensure systematic and smooth conduct of the activities.
With the aid of the research work, various factors that can ensure to attain the desirable outcome
have been addressed. Such factors include better addressing of the research gap, significance of
the subject matter, analysis and evaluation of the questions of the research that are required to be
addressed, along with the suitable implication are included (Fu & Ren, 2013). This will assist in
the better and effective understanding of the valuable points that can ensure realization of the
suitable outcome associated with the understanding of the process of negotiation in the project of
construction.
Evidence of the research gap or problem from the literature
With the understanding of the subject matter that due to diverse opinion of the various parties
associated with the project of construction there are series of the complexities and issues that are
required to be addressed. This is because such differences in the viewpoint leads to the series of
the disputes among the parties that tends to hamper the work operations in a great manner. In this
respect the major research gap that is identified and addressed is the understanding of the terms
and process of negotiation (Yiu & Cheung, 2013).
Such research gap can be resolved with the suitable and effective assortment of the data from the
various secondary sources such as articles, journals and magazines. The assortment of the data
from the concerned sources will assist in the better understanding of the various particulars
related to the subject matter. In addition better addressing of the research gap will assist in the
identification of the better points of significance that will assist in the suitable process of
negotiation in terms of the project of construction. AS such related parties can make effective
and suitable decision can be taken in relation to the existing and the forthcoming period.
To address the gap of the research work, the main role embarks of the project manager. The
project manager is to ensure the formulation of the series of the steps and procedures that can
assist in the conduct of the activities in a systematic and effective manner that can yield to
provide suitable and effective outcomes.

The intended research may provide various benefits to the construction projects but with this it
may also have negative impact on those sometimes (Yiu & Cheung, 2013). In construction sector
it may it may result in the highly subjectivity due to the involvement of human errors. With this
the intended research may also create the situations which are not realistic which in turn may
impact the researcher through the corrupted data. In addition to the negative impacts it also helps
in providing various positive impacts such as the results which are achieved through the research
can be duplicated which enables to recheck and validate the published results. Furthermore, the
level of control within the construction projects will also be high as every variable can be
controlled in different combinations so as to produce viable outputs.

The overall research work will assist in gaining of the suitable and effective knowledge on the

construction projects". In this respect some of the questions that will support in providing of the
suitable benefits includes:

projects in the forthcoming period?
Research approach, data collection method, and sampling plan
To ensure suitable and valuable outcome, it is essential that the person concern involved in the
process of research effectively focus on the application of the suitable approaches, methods for

the collection of the data and the sampling plan (Chow, et. al., 2012). Research approaches will
assist in the identification of the series of the steps that are required to be followed and observed
in order to ensure systematic operations. For the attainment of the suitable and valuable points
the research personnel is required to evaluate the various research approaches such as deductive
approach, inductive and adductive approach. This will assist in the better utilization of the
resources along with the identification of the new approaches that can better assist in dealing
with the subject matter. In addition, for the assortment of the data, suitable data collection
methods must be focused so that the suitable understanding can be attained. To ensure the
collection of the valuable information primary and secondary method of data collection can be
used. Primary method will assist in gaining of the suitable reliability and accuracy. On the other
hand, secondary method will better assist in the identification of the new theories and concepts
that tend to ensure systematic and better conduct of the activities.
In addition, to the application of the research approaches and the methods for the data collection,
it is necessary that the effective plan of sampling is made. This will assist in gaining of the
suitable outline within which the business activities are required to be conducted. There are
various types of the sampling procedure that can be analyzed and evaluated. In the research
work, sequential sampling can be used. This will assist in the dealing with the large sample size.
This will assist in the better and effective decision making.
Expected research findings and their implication
After the completion of the research work and gaining suitable and effective knowledge about
the analysis of effective negotiation for construction projects" various risk and complexities were
identified. In addition, it will also assist in suitable identification of the varied facts and aspects
that can assist in dealing with the diverse need (Chow, et. al., 2012). The finding of the research
also addresses on the need and importance of the negotiation so that suitable focus can be made
on the settlements’ of the disputes leading to better agreements.
