SRM752 Advanced Project Management: Construction Project Plan LC-01A

This document presents a project management plan for the construction of the Learning Communities LC-01A building, utilizing the Waterfall project management methodology due to the project's fixed and sequential phases. The plan covers all project phases, including initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure. The initiation phase defines the project scope, deliverables, and timeframe, while the planning phase involves creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt chart, and identifying the critical path. Key activities, stakeholders, communication mediums, risk and procurement plans, and budget estimations are also outlined. The execution phase focuses on progress tracking using status reports and tools like Tracking Gantt. Finally, the closure phase involves assessing project and team performance and documenting lessons learned. This plan provides a structured approach to managing the construction project from start to finish.

The Learning Communities LC-01A) building will go through following phases:
 Initiation – This stage includes project charter document.
 Planning - This stage includes project scope statement, work breakdown structure and
Gantt chart.
 Execution - This stage includes progress tracking and project status.
 Control - This stage includes goal tracking and budget tracking
 Closure - This stage includes project analysis and project report.
The project shall use Waterfall Project management methodology because the construction
project has fixed phases and until current phase is completed, the next stage cannot be started.
Hence, waterfall project management methodology is best suited for the proposed project.
Initiation phase – During this phase, following items are discussed and framed:
Project scope – The scope of the project includes following items:
 Resource recruitment
 Purchase construction material
 Procure safety and health measures for the involved resources
 Frame quality metrics for the building
The scope does not include following items:
 Marketing of the building
 Inauguration of the building for the users
Deliverables – Following are key deliverables of the project:
 Contract sign-off
 Budget estimation
 Building design sign-off
 Award contract
Timeframe – The project starts from 29th May 2019 and ends on 1st Oct 2019.
Planning phase uses WBS, Gantt chart and Critical path.

Execution phase
The status reports are used to track the project progress. Tools such as Tracking Gantt can be
used to track the deliverables.
Closure phase
Closure based activities within the project would involve assessment of the project
performance. The assessment would need to be done for each of the individuals within the
project’s team. Simultaneously, the team’s performance and capabilities would also be
assessed.
