AI Summary
This document is a comprehensive construction quality control manual designed for a concrete trade project at the Blue Mountains TAFE. It begins with an introduction highlighting the importance of quality control in construction and provides project details, including the client, architect, and job title. The manual outlines the project control synchronization meeting, which involves key personnel to discuss strategies for ensuring quality outcomes. It then details quality control plans, revisions, and related concrete construction processes, referencing corporate management framework documents and international standards like ISO 9000 and ISO 9001. The manual thoroughly covers construction procedures, including material selection, mixing processes, formwork construction, and the use of high-quality materials such as limestone and steel reinforcement. It also emphasizes safety measures and regulations, ensuring the use of personal protective equipment and environmental protection. The document includes procedures for concrete testing, quality control, and compliance sheets. References are provided for further study.

Construction Quality Control Manual
Construction Quality Control Manual
Introduction
Perumal Pedavoli Architects is committed to providing exemplary construction services to its
clients by ensuring that every contract operation is engaged in there is well-prepared quality
control manual to guide various construction processes. Different variations in construction and
manufacturing and almost all engineering processes often pose serious quality, technical and
commercial implications to organizational reputation if not adequately controlled and monitored
in a standardized manner. Bottleneck completion in the construction industry to some extent
forces construction firms to be more careful about the quality of construction works they
undertake since it’s what shall sell or soil the company’s reputation. This is to present quality
construction assurance to our client, New South Wales Institution, in the construction of beauty
therapy classrooms and offices that will expand its enrolling capacity and staff comfortability as
they discharge their duties. Our company employs the use of strategically planned and series of
systematic activities that are implemented in the quality system to ensure that necessary quality
requirements for the structure are well fulfilled.

Construction procedures
The construction process shall commence after all the necessary supplies related to concrete
construction have been supplied to the site by our material suppliers.
Concrete shall be used to construct basement foundations, pillars, columns, subfloors, stairs, and
upper floors of the first floor and second floor.
Quality is our main concern. Thus, cement and gravels for mixing of concrete shall be of high
standards since concrete has embodied energy that comes from its extraction , mixing process
and its transportation to site (Ménard et al. 2019). The method of mixing shall be closely
monitored to ensure that there are no waste materials such as granulated grounded blast furnace
slag, fuel ash into the produced concrete. These waste materials affect the long term strength of
concrete when used to construct any structure. The process shall be conservative of the
environment around NWS by ensuring that ally concretes well recycled without material
variability and content moisture that could make them unviable (Casolani, Liberatore & Psomas,
2018).

Construction of formworks and concrete shall be the second operation after ensuring that all the
materials needed in the concrete making are available at the construction site. Formworks and
set-ups are the molds that are erected and some constructed temporarily to provide the shape or
form in which ready mixed concrete is poured into (Babu et al. 2018).
For the footings and basement construction, we shall use metal to erect formworks for the
concrete pouring since the steal metals used to reinforce concrete are heavy thus when timber is
used, and they would not provide sufficient strength required to support the mortar as it dries up.

concrete will be improved by adding metal rods mesh, cables and wires in areas where high
tensile stress shall be exerted such as on pillars, frames and corner walls.
Concrete used to construct commercial buildings such schools and offices should be of excellent

Then there shall be mixing, of course, all-purpose prepare sand with cement in the recommended
ratio, that is, two capacity of aggregated stones to one capacity of measure of sand than cement
on top in the proportion of one to one with sand. The mixing process is made easy by the use of a
mechanized concrete mixer. Then add one portion of cement to every four parts of gravel and the
cement shall enhance the mixing of the two to make strong ad thick mortar. For the construction
of the basement, the mortar must be adhesive enough to assure adequate strength required for
structural support (Kannan et al. 2017). To prevent groundwater penetration into the walls, there
shall be the use of waterproof lime or cement in making the basement slab. And for the walls and
pillar, tar will be added to the mixture to make it firmly stick to the reinforced steel frames for
adequate support.
According to the architectural plan, we shall use high gauge quality steel rods for the
reinforcement of the footings, foundations, pillars and the floor slab to ensure that the strength of
the building can sustain the up to some allowance the maximum calculated stress and tolerance
when fully occupied. The cartage of the steel metal rods to site shall be done by the company’s
construction coordinator and he shall ensure that they are kept at a safe place and in a good
condition to avoid any damage or injury that might be caused by the metals.
After mixing of gravels, sand and cement to produce concrete, material test officer shall conduct
the test on the already formed concrete to verify the strength and various properties of concrete
as per the initial calculations, hence ensuring that the used concrete if of the required strength
