STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
Findings of the SWOT analysis:
Finding 1: Main stakeholders to construction projects:
Client:
The clients, also referred to as principles and owners of the projects are the bodies which
float tenders to acquire construction projects. Winch and Leiringer (2016) point out that
construction of infrastructure like bridges and roads play significant role in the economic
infrastructure of economies.
Contractors:
The contractors of the civil construction projects can be individual firms, consortiums or
joint ventures formed especially for the execution of the projects awarded by the client. The
contractors have to play several important roles in relation to the projects as per expectations of
the clients (Sambasivan et al. 2017).
Mitkus and Mitkus (2014) shed light on the significance of communication
management and information management. Aigbavboa, Oke and Tyali (2016) strengthens
this view by pointing out that lack of transparency in communication of crucial information
between the two parties, namely clients and contractors often result in conflicts. Thus, it can
finally be inferred from the discussion that the two parties today need to management these two
aspects using virtual communication methods. The two virtual communication considered for
the study are email and teleconferencing.
Finding 2:
The two virtual communication methods which the two parties namely, contractors and
clients can use to ensure efficient conflict management by efficient communication

management and information management are email and teleconferencing (Eisenkopf 2015).
The SWOT analysis of the email and teleconferencing reveal that both the virtual
communication platforms enable sharing information regarding projects in different forms like
plain document as well as email documents.
