Introduction:
The Preston market is one of the renowned business places of the UK business
industry. The market was observed to be established in the year 1840 in the Lancashire
County (Brook 2018). However it took another 35 years for the market to start the business
conduction in full flow (Prestonmarket.com. 2018). The market proved to be a significant
success within 6 years band started to include various range of services and products like the
butchers, delicatessens, grocers, fish and poultry, and a large assortment of small shops for
toys, accessories, clothes and sporting goods. The paper is focused in the elaboration of the
my construction of the consultancy plan for the major revamp that the market and three of the
sections of it required for enabling more number of business developers to conduct their
trade.
Kolbs Reflective Cycle:
After conducting the consultancy programme for the Preston market and considering
the Kolbs Reflective Cycle (Kolb 2014), I am able to portray my learning from the
programme. Following the article of Kolb (2014) and considering the concrete experience
stage, I observed the fact that the market was in need of a major revamp for maintenance of
its sustainability. In the research, I found that the Quarter Bridge report which was passed by
the City council in the year 2013, was able to comment on the poor state of the current hall.
Along with this, the report was significant for me in understanding the fact that the major
factor responsible in the decrement of the condition of the market was the surrounding
environment of it. Hence it forced the market authority to consider a plan of revamp of its
outdoor market area in the year 2018. However, the indoor and the outdoor sections of the
market was still in need of redevelopment. Apart from this, one significant reason that has the
potential to influence the redevelopment of the Preston market is the consideration of the fact

that the Preston Company was significantly interested in improving the business relationships
with other business organizations. I understood the fact that, apart from the mentioned
reasons, the company was interested in decreasing the market competition by the effective
increment of the product chain of the organization with the introduction of the products like
fruits, dairy products, raw meat, vegetables, hair and make-up accessories, jewellery, phones
and tablets. Hence, in order to achieve the mentioned goals of the company, the market place
was in need of a major redevelopment.
Considering the Reflective observation section of the Kolbs Reflective Cycle
(Tomkins and Ulus 2016), I was able to understand the fact that the assessment of the
external and the internal condition of the Preston market will be significant for the planning
of the redevelopment. Along with this, I learned that the planning of the redevelopment of the
market will be notably effective with the proper understanding of the client objectives, the
assessment of the existing resources inside the market place along with the identification of
the preferences of the customers of the Preston market. Along with this, I was able to
understand the fact that the identification of the requirements for the production of the spaces
which will create effective business to business and business to customers interaction and
communication with a precise focus on establishment of the marketing activities, events and
fairs, is much needed for the redevelopment plan. Considering the planning the section
(Konak, Clark and Nasereddin 2014), I was able to understand that the site visit, the
investigation of the condition of the market, the collection of the information will be
significant. Along with this, the development of the relevant research plan and the
identification of the solution of the existing redevelopment issues in the Preston market will
be of great significance for the selection of the research technique, for the selection of the
data collection method and the technique for the analysis, the methods for the data
interpretation along with the concluding statement and the review of the plan (Bassot 2016).

Team assessment:
The formation of the group was considerably smooth but it did face some issues as
well. It included five members in the form of Sailesh khanna nuthalapati, Satya Pradeep
Chandra polireddy, Nerella Akhil, Sudeep kumar reddy pylla, Vinoth sivakumar. The general
issues that we faced after the formation of the team was that Vinoth was not fully convinced
with the flow of operations that were to happen during the activity. Along with this, two of
our members, Nerella Akhil and Sudeep kumar reddy pylla were seen to be partially effective
in their role in the research. Being a team, the effectiveness and the active approach of every
member were much needed for us and we, the other members of the team, tried to convince
Vinoth with the portrayal of the advantages of our plan and at the same time we tried to
motivate the concerned members who were not performing in accordance to the desired
perfection. The choice of the host organization was made with mutual communication among
us, the members of the consultancy. For the achievement of the access, we had to write a
letter to the concerned authority and we had to call them over phone for three times to convey
our request for the approval of the access. Each of the members were assigned to find
relevant information and formal reports on the market and the evolution of it. The need of the
research for finding out the information and the formal reports was for the proper assessment
of the condition of the market so that the plan for the redevelopment of the market becomes
efficient in hitting the exact concerns.
As a group, the consultancy plan for Preston market, was the first assignment for us.
Hence we faced some preliminary issues in the form of the selecting inappropriate sources for
the documents. Along with this, the search for the resources was difficult for us as we were

not aware of the appropriate techniques which can be used for easy and effective finding of
the necessary reports on the Preston market and at the same, we faced the absence of a guide
as well. In addition to this, the absence of knowledge was instrumental in the increment of the
consumption of the time and the money of our team which created some issues for us.
However, the activity went well for the majority of the parts, but the issue of collecting
reports or files belonging to improper source, needed some necessary adjustments. The
approach in handling the issue could have been different as that would have ensured lesser
amount of impact of it on the final plan. The team was in need to make sure that they come to
a mutual agreement regarding the selection of the sources which they will consider for the
plan and the rejection of the improper and unauthentic sources. The learning from the
experience is the identification of the effectiveness of the team work. I observed that each and
every member of the group was contributing into the research and in the construction of the
plan. The thing that I would like to differently is the collection of the data. Next time, I will
make sure that each of the members of the team have the primary objective of only
considering the authentic and original government sources.

Conclusion:
On a concluding note, the research has the potential to meet the necessary
requirements for the plan and in conducting the research, the notable contribution from each
members of team is found to be significant in the success of the research.
