INTRODUCTION
Management consultancy industry is one of the leading sector of the global economies
where companies are seeking advice from expertise regrading different aspects of business
management and growth within the economy (Alvesson and Kärreman, 2014). It has helped the
companies in attaining high and effective business development aspects in the current
competitive market. The present study focuses on undertaking a self assessment of my
consultancy capabilities in different disciplines. This will help me in creating an extensive
knowledge regarding my strengths and weaknesses.
ANALYSIS
Management is a broad concept which focuses on attaining high success measures within
the economy while analysing and evaluating different aspects of business operations. It help
companies in creating a significant growth prospects within the economy to create a competitive
edge within the market. The following analysis will be undertaken to evaluate my personal
assessment in different disciplines of management consultancy to attain high growth measures in
the economy.
Strategy
This is one of the most significant aspect of management consultancy for every business
unit. Strategies are defined as the actions which a business unit undertake in order to create a
winning edge within the market (Clark and Fincham, 2010). This helps the business in
developing competitive edge and strategic development aspects for the business unit. Strategic
choices of the business are wide in order to attain well defined growth measures, companies seek
expert advice to enhance growth and profitability of the business unit. Strategy consultancy helps
in simplifying the business decisions for top management of the company. It help companies in
making effective choices for the business growth.
Strategic consultancy includes decisions regarding Corporate Strategy, Mergers &
Acquisitions, Organisational Strategy and Functional Strategy (Sturdy, Schwarz and Spicer,
2006). These decisions help the company in creating a significant growth impact of the
organisation. Consultant focuses on providing well defined analysis of the market conditions,
consumer trends and company's position in the economy. Strategic advisory functions demand
high level of analytical skills, technical knowledge, extensive market knowledge, quantitative

skills and research skills. This helps in attaining wide and corrective knowledge about the market
conditions in order to provide correct advisory functions for the business unit.
My current skills for strategic consultancy needs to be developed and enhanced widely.
My strengths for becoming a successful strategy consultant includes efficiency in technical and
research skills. I have keen interest in learning for upgraded technical tools for conducting
researches in the field. This will help me in growing effectively in the field however my
analytical knowledge and skills are not widely enhanced to meet the competitiveness in the
market. My market knowledge is also limited due to lack of effective experience. Hence, I will
no indulge my self in self learning and development programs to enhance my career prospects
for strategy consultancy in UK.
Finance
Finance is the blood of the business unit. Every company operates within the market to
earn significant profit while minimize the cost of operations for the business unit. This aspect of
consultancy demands effective guidance for the business units to develop a detailed analysis of
financial aspects (Sturdy, Wylie and Wright, 2013). Companies focuses on saving the cost and
enhancing business profitability to create edge within the economy. Business decisions regarding
tax saving, investment, fund allocation, merger acquisition decisions, project financing, credit
enhancement, feasibility decisions are suggested by the service profile
Financial consultancy demands effective knowledge and expertise n the field for attaining
high success in the economy. My knowledge and experience in the sated field is limited. I need
effective growth and development in the stated aspect of consultancy. The clients demand
effective and specific financial decisions for the business unit to create a well defined impact on
growth and development measures of the business enterprise. My numerical and technical
expertise is high in the field however the broad conceptual knowledge about financial resources
is not highly refined for the business. Moreover, I need to understand the aspects of the latest
investment options in order to provide well defined knowledge on the subject to the clients.
I will enhance by knowledge by learning about the core concepts and measures to define
the process and strategies adopted to deal the issue. In addition to this I will also implement
different strategies to learn about investment options adopted by the companies in order to
developed well defined strategies to enhance financial business decisions within the market. I
will also focus on attending lectures and seminars regarding financial business decisions for the

business unit which will help in developing my knowledge, experience and skills in the related
aspect.
Marketing
Marketing is not an age old concept which demands an effective application of fresh or
innovative business ideas to help the business unit to develop within the economy. It is a
dynamic discipline which demands significant implementations of strategic planning measures
within the business unit (Buono, 2015). Marketing consultancy is one of the challenging aspects
for the industry as this field has developed widely in terms of innovative measures and strategies
of the business. Marketing concepts and measures has helped the business unit in creating well
defined growth measures in the market. Marketing consultant needs to enhance the market
knowledge in order to analyse the changing scenario of the economy. They are the professionals
who helps companies to develop unique ideas and campaigns for enhancing organisational sales
and growth within the economy.
The marketing presentational needs dynamic skills in order to deal with business issues
and problems within the economy. A successful marketing consultant needs effective marketing
research skills to analyse the changing trends and demands in the economy (Taylor and et.al.,
2012). In addition to this well defined interpersonal skills are demanded by the person for
analysing the growth measures in the economy. In addition to this efficiency in interpersonal
skills and communication measures are also demanded to deal with the business development
and growth aspects for the career option. In-depth knowledge of technology and updated
strategies is also essential for the business unit to create a high growth measure for the clients of
the business unit.
I have keen interest in marketing field which has helped me in understanding the
concepts and knowledge effectively. My creativity and out of the box thinking has helped me in
creating a significant impact on my development aspects in the market. Moreover, I observed
that my communication skills and interpersonal skills are also highly refined for the business
effective career option. However, my market knowledge in the field in low. This may need high
development aspect for me to develop growth measures in the economy.

Human resource management
Human Resource management is one of the most important departments of any
organisation and is devised to manage the HR of the organisation. With the growing importance
of the department and complexities of the situation a new industry of HR consulting has emerged
purely for the consultation of the HRM duties and decisions by planning, recommending,
assisting and advising in various matters (O'Mahoney and Markham, 2013). The duty of an
HRM consultant is to address various tasks of the Human Resource department by assisting them
in integrating their regular operations with effective processes, programs, policies and practices.
The essential skills required are: Technical Skills: A HR consultant is required to have technical knowledge in order to
understand the needs of the clients and promptly act towards the solution. It is important
for an HR consultant to know what kind of policy is required to be formulated in a
specific situation or what process is to be followed to solve a specific issue. Interpersonal Skills: HR consultant shall possess the qualities of Positivity, confrontation,
listening, team process, credibility and so on. He/she should be instantly able to
communicate the ideas to the other person.
Consulting Skills: HR Consultant should be a good negotiator. Shall be able to solve
complexities within any given data and be able to deal efficiently with changing climate.
I believe I posses the Interpersonal Skills as I am a good listener, a team player, in
addition I possess the Technical Skills of HRM, project management, planning and analysis.
However, my major weakness is handling complex and lengthy data. I find it difficult in
analysing complex data and diagnose the issues related to employees and workforce. In addition,
my negotiation skills are also not very good hence I will focus on developing the same by taking
expertise advice for the related subject.
Information technology
Information technology is one of the growing sector and is well recognized across
the globe. The role of information technology can be greatly viewed towards integrating the
domestic economy with that of world's economy (Chiţu and Tecău, 2012). In order to become IT
consultant there is wide range of skills required by an individual. This is relating with skills of
possessing complete knowledge about the field. Along with this as the industry is dynamic in
nature thus individual is required to be updated with the recent trends that are emerging in the

particular sector so that proper information can be offered to the customers. In addition to this
technical skills are also needed by IT consultant. This is in order to develop better understanding
among the users of services.
In order to become IT consultant I possess wide range of skills. This is related with
technical one. I possess suitable knowledge of the field thus I can offer better knowledge to the
people who are availing the services. Along with this my strength is that I possess sound skills of
communication (Bouteligier, 2011). This assist me in proper suitable information to the
customers. However there is presence of certain weakness in me this is related with getting
updated with present changes in the IT industry. Thus to a significant level affects my working.
Such is required to be addressed. This is can done by adopting method such as self assessment,
making use of internet facilitates as well as attaining work shops. With this I would be able to
enhance my knowledge regarding the changes that are taking place within industry.
Production
Production consultancy is one of the most crucial and technical part of the consultation
service. It demands well defined knowledge of technical skills, operational management aspects
and functional aspects of business activities. It helps the business unit in developing high growth
aspects in the economy (Preece, Iles and Chuai, 2011). Operational consultant is a professional
who is referred for analysing the business's operational efficiency and develop effective
measures to deal with the same. To attain success in the stated field the employee will demand
effective and well measured analysis of business operations and employee capabilities. In
addition to this analysing efficiency of mechanical tools and equipments is also highly essential
for the business organisations.
I have gained effective theoretical knowledge on production planning and project
management aspects. I have attained effective knowledge for the same which has helped me in
creating a well defined impact on business development issues for the clients (Sturdy, Wylie and
Wright, 2013). However, lack of practical knowledge for the related aspect may pose a
significant challenge for my growth as a production consultant in the economy. In addition, I
have not attained any technical knowledge for production functions of the business, technical
terminologies or functional efficiencies of the business unit. This can result in proving to be a
major limitation for my personal growth and development. I will develop the sated skills by
joining a manufacturing or production unit to analyse the working needs and requirements of the

business. The practical business exposure will help in enhancing my knowledge and growth in
the field widely.
CONCLUSION
The above study develops a detailed analysis of the management consultancy operations
and the in-depth industry knowledge. It creates an effective impact on individual development
measures within the industry. I analysed different disciplines of consultancy industry and the
measures undertaken skills and capabilities demanded by the industry. The overall analysis
revealed that I have attained well defined growth and development prospects within the
economy. However, enhancing my production knowledge and experience in the industry will
help in attaining high success for the stated career.
