3.2 Explain consumer protection legislation in relation to travel and tourism customers
Interests and rights of consumers are protected through consumer protection legislations which are not violated through travel and tourism agents as well as
business owners. Under this, consumer protection legislations needs Thomas Cook to encourage and protect tourism in industry. According to Thomas cook the
consumer protection acts has been aimed to protect rights and interests of the consumers which has been violated by traveller agents and many traveller business
organizations. Many fake agents provide wrong information to clients and attaining benefits by giving wrong details of price, place, services, accommodation,
logistics. According to trade discrimination act which set out the law against misconduct practising in relation with travel and tourism. Practical application of wrong
trade statement by the agent. Supply by which false trade has been in practise. Facilities and accommodation provided by the agent.
According to consumer protection act which governed some rights and duties of the consumers Such as manufacturer has a legal obligation to remark the applicable
description in relation to the good as mentioned by the wellness and safety laws of the nation. It formed some provision for the issues like, law-breaking, fake,
unfair business practices and product financial obligation. This regulation is helpful in following ways :-
by abolishment of the supply low standard quality goods
by product liability establishment
by legal authority establishment
by proscription of lawless consideration.
There rare following regulations under CPR:-

the union representative for the air traveller needs the Aviation Travel Organizer’s License whereby the consumers are financially protected either by way of

Regulation 2008- Under this act, customers are protected from unfair trading practices. These practices consists practise which against law of any misleading
information that given in any articles, brochure etc. related to tour packages.
