I completed the task with the help of having effective research skills which assist me to
provide answer through internet.

I cover different types of business within hospitality industry.
3)- What did I learn about the different types of businesses within the hospitality industry
and the diverse products and services they offer during the presentation prep, group
work and collaboration?
From the different business, I learn there are range of business operation within hospitality
industry such as travel, service, luxury and hotel. They also offer diverse range of
product (Restaurants, Fast food chains, Cafeterias, Cafes, Pubs, Delis, Airlines, Trains,
Cruise ships, Leisure, Fitness, Sport activities, Live) offers which reflect that industry
depends heavily on the consumer’s disposable income. Also through group work, I learn
that teamwork plays an important role because opinion from other leads to improve
the understanding.
4)- What did I learn about the operational and functional departments within the chosen
hospitality service, tell us about the interrelationships between them? (Tell us your
answer in relation to the case study you used as a group).
Both operational (food and beverage department, housekeeping department) and
functional department (HR department, finance department, security department)
assist to provide efficient services to their customers and this in turn leads to sustain
the brand image of Marriott hotel. Also, due to variety of food and accommodation
services provided by hotel, quoted hotel tries to meet the demand of company and
thus, with proper support from both department, hotel able to meet the define aim.

5)- What did I learn about the contribution of the hospitality industry to local, national and
international economies, in this task?
Local:
I learn that Industry assist to increase economy of London and assist local business like
transportation, restaurant which directly help workplace. Such that it helps to
workplace and local economies as well. Moreover, London ranking among the top 5
European cities, and this shows that it creates a direct impact upon local economies.
The most jobs in the industry are found in London (around 500,000) and South East
England (around 400,000); 18% of workers in the UK industry are in London. There are
around 1.5m restaurant workers, and around 0.5m work in hotels.
National:
Assist to offer job opportunities within the UK and factsheets define that the hospitality
industry contributes with 3.2 million direct jobs and about 2.8 million indirect jobs.
The hospitality industry contributed an estimated £57 billion to UK GDP (Gross Domestic
Products ) in 2014.
International:
The hospitality industry offers job and contribute 9.5% of GDP globally and also make
sure to adhere to the trend that keeps growing the industry.

Franchising:
It assists the industry to access better talent and share business risk. It influences the
hospitality industry to maintain ownership of business operations of partner and
market power. Hospitality industry uses this method because it assist to expand the
business without the risk of debt and cost of equity. Also, franchisee provides capital
that can be invested within a firm that helps to operate the business in well manner.
Therefore, company grow by using the resources which in turn influence the
development of a hospitality industry.
Licencing:
One of the best and easy entry to the foreign market and requires a lower capital
requirement. It assists the industry to reduce taxes and developing an international
brand image and that is why the company uses the same. Also this strategy enable the
company to enter into a market which has a restrictions on foreign companies and this
in turn help to move into several market at a single time. So due to low return on
investment company easily sustain the brand image of a firm and tries to maintain a
strong brand image of a firm at global level. That is why, this type of entry mode help
the firm to grow internationally.
7)- Tell us about how global growth has contributed to the economic worth of the
hospitality industry?
Different businesses contribute differently such that Travel and Tourism contribute
$2.6trillion to the size of the UK and the GDP also increases from the last many years
due to the hospitality industry. It also provides job creation to many employees at the
global level, while hotels generate revenues to global economies when tourists spend
money and entertainment venues.
