Health and social care sector has various role which are performed as per the demand of
service users. It includes all the work that are being performed by hospitals, care homes and
nursing departments. It treats mental health and physical illness of people. This is the biggest
sector in terms of employment in United kingdoms. The present report will focus on Working in
partnership with service users is said to be important in Health and Social Care Practice. In
addition to this, Multi-agency working in Health and Social Care Practice will also be explained
in brief. Furthermore, Policy and legislation on working in partnership with service users will
also be covered in detail.

Working in partnership with service users is said to be important in Health and Social Care
Practice
Partnership in health and social care means working together of more than two people so that
the same who are working together can enjoy maximum possible benefits of accessible
resources. It will be helpful in converting them for benefits and the welfare of the
society(Cockerham, 2016).. Good partnership can only be possible when they are being
implemented by proper care and rules. It is the key to success of a partnership that how it is
maintained. Whereas, there are many difficulties also faced by organisation in working in
partnership which are defined below.
Structural barriers is one of the most common as every enterprise have their own
structure which is different from other health and social care. This is the major reason behind
facing the trouble while setting up the partnerships in health and social care. All the services
are separated among the companies in partnership, but many a time, a particular establishment
might not be ready to take up the project or work and provide the specific service to the users
(Working in partnership, 2016).
Procedural barriers on the other hand are also a major issue. Each health care unit has
particular procedure to handle a specific demand of the services and most of the procedures are
customised as per the structure of these organisations. This kind of procedural difference could

values and belief in order to develop a good working environment. But to work in partnership
organisation has to follow all the rules and regulations of other establishment too. This makes it
difficult for it to manage and implement other values on their own.
Person centred care are those where people are treated with dignity and respect.
At such places every person is treated with proper support and their needs are been taken care of.
Every patient is there focus while working and they treat them with complete respect. In a social
and health care when people are treated as if they are equal partners in planning and doing
complete care of them. It is not only by giving as per their need but along with that their family
situations, lifestyles and social belongings are also considered. At a person centred care people
are supported emotionally because person centred care is all about treating workers like that only

Due to this personal care working system in health cares the number of old age people living got
increased. As per Brett, (2014) person centred care helps in discovering answers to the

management and service users. Whereas As per Batterham, (2016) person centred care approach
where major focus is on client and on their needs is not applicable in every situation. As when
the patient is a murderer or rapist it is difficult for the therapist to do their treatment and treat
them with dignity as well. There are many issues due to the behaviour of people are faced by the
health cares while using patient centred approach.
Involving service user means a process where people who are using the services gets
involved in planning and till the end of the process i.e. delivery of that service. Involving them is
not only about supporting service user for involvement. Along with that, they will be given
choice and control over all the services that they receive. Personalised care is the best way of

making their own decision. This provision is applicable to those also who are living in mental
hospital due to there mental conditions. Act says that social cares who are acting on behalf of
such people should take decision in person's best interest. In case of no family or friends of the
person, social cares should consult with Independent mental capacity advocate.
Social work at its best,2008: As per the provisions of the act, social cares should work in the
best possible outcomes. While in partnership with service users team works should be developed
so that it will give a clear understanding about the roles and functions to everyone. Clarification
regarding roles makes the social care more clear about the direction they should work in.
Putting people first, 2007: This act focuses on keeping the people as the first priority and sets
the direction for adult social care. The early intervention will help in supporting and valuing of
all the members.

people feel that they are also part of the cares and special frameworks should be prepared. Strict
action should be taken against those who abuse or make others feel discriminated. Legal
proceeding must be carried against those who discriminate work man and patients in health and
social care. These anti discriminatory policies in health care will help in gaining trust of service
users. This results in changing behaviour and attitude of people who are enjoying services of
health care. This will promote dignity and equality at social cares which will improve the

not affect their physical condition but they will be highly affected by it mentally. It is the rights
of service user to be treated with respect and enjoy every service of health and social care. Every
staff member should treat them with respect and make sure that they get all the possible facilities
to live stress free. To stop discrimination and abuse of people every health care should give
special training to its staff. In that training they should be taught about the rules and regulations
which they must follow while working with social-care. Every new staff should also be trained
on their joining with the health and social care. Staff should ensure that if any patient is feeling
depressed or is not completely fit than they should inform in to higher authorities. It is also their
duty to take special care of people who are more ill or who needs extra care.
It is also needed to make the life of people happier and more independent. They must be
given extra services like yoga and meditations so that they can be relieved mentally. Their
physical and mental illness must be treated to maintain their in dependency and reduce
dependence over others. Health and social care must ensure that proper inspection of staff
members should be carried to know that they are giving their best for service receivers.
Discrimination is not going on should also be checked on regular basis. This will make service
user more happy and comfortable while tasking services from health and social cares.
I have gained that to aviod discrimination and abuse of people every health care should
