INTRODUCTION
While talking about health care the first thing that clicks the mind is the hospitals, doctors,
nurses, clinics etc. But health care also includes therapist, paramedics, technology professionals
and chiropractors etc. who help the people to live healthy and well (Mason and et. al., 2020).
Healthcare is the organisation that provides the medical care via treatment of disease, surgery,
prevention etc. to the people of society and communities. Along with this there is another term
social care which sometimes is correlated with the healthcare but social care is the provision of a
social work for the health and welfare of the personal care and protection of the society
excluding health care. The present report discusses about the contemporary challenges faced by
healthcare and social care due to the impact of Covid-19 and the Brexit in the UK. Report also
describes impact of National perspective on the effective care delivery. At last report provides
recommendation on the basis of the perspective and the issues on the healthcare.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Discuss a variety of contemporary issues within the health and social care sector that could
influence service improvement
Health and social care plays a crucial role in developing the country and to give the medical
services and treatments to the people in the society. In the contemporary world the health and
social care issues are occurring in the current situation due the global pandemic Covid-19 and
Brexit in UK (Hathaliya and Tanwar, 2020). The Covid-19 has put the health and social care into
the undesirable inequalities and under the extraordinary strain. Even the Brexit that is UK vote to
leave the EU has majorly impacted the health and social care because health and social care start
facing the financial pressure due to the Brexit has ushered the economic and political turmoil for
the huge period. The contemporary issues within the health and social care sector that could
influence service improvement are:
Staffing: The Brexit has caused many practitioners of the health and social care sector to come
out of UK to the EU as per the EU's policy of freedom of movement and mutual recognition
(Stanhope and Lancaster, 2019). The National Health Service is currently struggling in recruiting

and retaining the Permanent staff. Even in the social care there is lot crisis in staffing of the
workers as the turnover is high. Due to the Covid-19 there was shortage of staff in hospitals.
There were larger vacancies in the hospitals but the scarcity of the doctors and nurses due to the
fear of covid-19. Hence the Covid-19 and Brexit has created the adverse threat of staffing in the
healthcare sector thereby reducing the service improvement as there is decline or shortage of the
service providers. Due to Covid-19 many nurses and doctor where also the victim of the diseases
will cure and treating Covid 19 positive patients. This was the big challenge for the health care
sector.
Finance and funding: National health services facing very challenging years after the breakout
of UK from the EU also known as Brexit. Service leaders are facing dynamic financial pressures
and service improvement challenge due to weak performance and unavailability of capital
(Fascia, 2018). The funding for the NHS is been declining day by day due to the performance of
the economy which has the great instability after the UK’s vote to leave the EU. UK healthcare
and social sector is facing a deteriorating impact on its service performance due to profound
economic shock which is creating uncertainty and instability in the economy of UK thereby
challenging the funding and financing of the health and social care sector. The Covid-19 has also
downfall the economy and hospital need for finance and funding were heavily increased to
provide medication freely to Covid-19 positive patients.
Hence, there were many other challenges like regulation issue due to Brexit, a workforce crisis
due to Covid-19, safety and security issues related to the health care practitioners, NHS
performance and waiting time, crumbling of equipments, rate of occupancy of bed is high during
the Covid-19 and number of patients are high leading to human suffering. Therefore, this has
decreased the service performance of the health and social care sector.
TASK 2
Discuss the key perspective and its impact upon care delivery
The key perspective in the healthcare and the social sector which creates impact upon the
care delivery is the local perspective which includes the practitioners such as nurses, doctors etc.,
service users, action groups and local media. Health and social care practiced locally on the base
of the international and the global standards. The local have a great influence on the care
delivery of the services provided by the health care and social care sector of the UK.

Government actions and policies create the positive and negative approach towards the people
about the healthcare and social care conditions prevailing in the country. The care delivery of the
health care and the social care services delivery system includes two primary objectives one that
it should must enable all the public or the citizens of the country to access the health care
services timely and secondly the service and the care delivery from the healthcare services must
be cost effective and friendly to meet the certain standards of the quality of the healthcare and
social care as per the national health service (Mokhov and et. al., 2020). Local practitioners of
the health care service and social care creates a positive impact on the care delivery as the
practitioner's perspective is to provide better health to the public with at most quality and care
delivery in the treatment and other health care services. The local perspective is focusing on
developing and recognising the various performance and the quality measures in their healthcare
delivery services. Quality of the care delivery totally depends upon the behaviour and attitude of
the health care practitioner such as nurses, doctors and the other staff members. Practitioners
with the motivation and a positive attitude can deliver the most quality measured care delivery in
the healthcare sector. The local media is playing a crucial role in the today's 21st century
delivering the care for people by informing them about the health conditions and the situations
that are happening around them. In the healthcare and social care with local media has a
significant role by making the people aware consistently on the current affairs in the society
about the health and social care (Germain, 2019). The local media has a great impact upon the air
delivery in the health care and the social care sectors as this is the most outrageous medium in
the local perspective to reach out to the consumers directly with influencing opinion towards the
health. The local media through news conduct discussion with the practitioner and service takers
about the current issues in healthcare sector and that has positive the impact on the care delivery
to the public.
TASK 3
Hypothesize a potential outcome to minimise disruption to services, based upon identified
contemporary issues
It is critically evaluated that The National health system of the UK is evolving to become
world's largest health care service. Quality has become a subject for the every organisation as it
has prominent role in the lives of the consumer (Greer and Löblová, 2020). Healthcare service
delivery quality depends upon the local perspective of the UK that includes the local service

provider’s, customer’s, action groups, local media and interaction with each other to provide the
quality health care service with attributes like timelines consistency and accuracy. The local
perspective has a positive impact over the health care delivery services.
It is observed that the practice of the UK for providing the patients with appropriate service
with good communication shared decision making and cultural sensitivity. Based on the above
analysis of the contemporary issues that the health care and the social care are facing in the 21st
century due to the covid-19 a global pandemic and Brexit the exit of EU from UK are strongly
and adversely impacting the healthcare services. The funding has been reduced in health care due
to low economy of UK after Covid-19 and also due to the Brexit as the EU policies and EU
organisation has denied lending money to UK. Due to the Covid-19, health care services were
facing the contemporary issue of shortage of equipments, beds and staff as the number of
patients was high during Covid-19 with no cost in return. The Covid-19 has created a shortage of
beds and also the shortage of staff. Due to Brexit the immigration of nurses who were working in
UK lead to poor service in health care sector.
Covid-19 has significant implications for the UK exit from the European Union has
collapsed the economy of the UK with the public health crisis due to the global pandemic. There
is high uncertainty path for the healthcare to the recover economy and gain funding and improve
public health crisis. It is recommended that the implementation the Brexit policies after the vote
of EU to exit from UK, the Government of UK can minimise the disruption caused by hiring or
recruiting large number of employees for health care service from their own country that will
help to reducing the disturbance in health care delivery and avoid human suffering in the
healthcare services. Covid-19 can help the NHS of countries like UK as the larger number of
nurses, doctors and staffs was required during the treatment of patients that minimise the staffing
issue as practitioners were working on two shifts.
The Covid-19 has increased the safety of health care and service was delivered with quality
such as proper sanitization and other safety measures. The Covid-19 has used the technology
very effectively in provided medication and healthcare benefits in lock down by following all
social distancing measures which made delivery faster. It is advised that with the implementation
of Brexit in UK health care delivery the demand of aboard treatment will be reduced that will
cherish the health care services of UK.

important role in economy of the country. The healthcare and social care sector are the one that
help in maintaining the mental and physical health of the citizens of the country that will grow
economy as a whole. But recently it is observed that health and social care are facing the relevant
issues due to the covid-19 and the Brexit in UK. The contemporary issues have made the
healthcare services face various challenges like shortage of staffs, higher occupancy of the beds,
low funding, and steeped economy. But it also recognised that that local media plays a very
important role in making the citizens aware about the various health conditions and situations
that are ongoing in the country (Wilson, 2018). It is also recommended that the covid-19 and
Brexit can help the healthcare services to minimise the disruptions in their delivery as the covid-

The Covid-19 has also made the doctors and nurses the victim of the diseases thereby reducing
the number of staff in health care sector during emergency with made long time wait for the
service users for the treatment.
The social care is facing the great issue in treating the mental health of the citizens and the
patients to the complete shutdown and the social distancing measures (Luthra, 2021). The Brexit
