patient care, building a co-operative and therapeutic relationship(Leslie and Lonneman, 2016)
with the patients through enhanced communication and interaction, professional
responsibility, abiding by the nursing codes and standards as well as implementing the ethical
guidelines in their practice, teamwork and integrity. They should have proper knowledge and
adequate training before treating any patient and they should be accountable for their actions.
They should give respect to the patients along with the co-workers, work together towards a
common goal of treating people. They should be commited to deliver patient centered care
and make the patient’s needs as their highest priority(Shepherd, 2017). They should give
respect to their cultural values and religious beliefs, stay non-judgemental and avoid
stereotyping. They should always ask for the patient’s consent before initiating a treatment
procedure.

follow or abide by for upholding themeseves to registered nurse. It mainly deals with

Prioritizing people – Nurses should show respect to the patient and treat them with
kindness and compassion, they should keep the patient’s requirements, values and

friendly interaction with the patients, build a strong therapeutic relationship with the
patients which will help the nurses to earn the trust of the patients. They should give
respect and support the decision of the patient, when they refuse or accept for a
particular treatment. They should always be dedicated and commited towards the
wellbeing of people(Dean, 2017).
Practise effectively – The nurses should implement evidence based practice in their
profession, acquire adequate knowledge and expertise required for safe and effective
practice. They should have proper communication skills and should be able to
communicate clearly with the patients, in simpler terms and in native language so that
they can understand better. They should be aware of the cultural backgrounds of the
patients. The nurses should share these skills with the fellow nurses for the benefit of
the patients. They shoul be able to maintain patient records without any falsification
and take all steps to ensure that the records are kept secured(Ashurst, 2017).
Preserve safety – The nurses should ensure proper patient and public safety and
should be ready to provide assistance whenever any emergency situation arises within
the clinical settings.
Promote professionalism and trust – Nurses should be able to uphold the reputation
of their profession and should be committed towards the nursing codes and standards
proposed by NMC, and apply those within their practice(. They should show honesty,
dignity, integrity and justice in their actions which helps to earn the trust of the
patient. They should be a role model or an example for the other student nurses to

aspire. They should provide leadership to ensure that the wellbeing of people is

The legal suggestions of nursing practise are associated with licensure, laws
implemented by the State and Federal government, sufficient scope and opportunity of
practice for the nurses and meeting with the patient’s expectation. The knowledge and
education of the nurse, license and the nursing standards provide a structural basis or
context for the nurses to follow. The framework of standards for the NMC aims to
improve the learning culture within the healthcare setting, providing an open, safe and
effective environment for the members to practice effieciently. They also look forward to
empower the student nurse, provide them sufficient learning opportunities and assistance.
The Person centered framework guides the nurses to provide effective patient-centered
treatment and care, by helping the nurses to connect with them as unique individuals

as attributes of the nurse, provision of safe, compassionate and caring environment,
treating the patient as per their requirement and preference and lastly, ensuring their

organizations nowadays. It has shown to improve health outcomes as well as ensure better

treatment and inform them about the treatment procedure in detail to improve
transparency in the practice. They should respect the patient’s decision if they refuse or
accept for any particular treatment, and should not pressurize them. They should be
committed to deliver coordinated care and assistance to the patients.
