It will further discuss impact of covid-19 and Brexit in delivering palliate care in an effective
manner. Further, it will discuss national and local perspectives and their impact on care delivery.
Government, local media, national media and regulatory bodies also affect in delivery of
palliative care. It will then show some ways by which healthcare providers of palliative care can
improve health of service users by decreasing negative impacts of contemporary issues. Hiring or
skilled healthcare providers and increasing funding are best ways by which palliative care can be
provided in an effective manner.

There are number of factors that are affecting and influencing palliative care service
improvement and people are suffering to the great extent.
Some main contemporary issues that are influencing this service care improvement include:
• Covid 19: Covid-19 pandemic has affected people around the world to the great extent.
• This infectious disease has increased work load on service care providers. \
• Due to increasing cases of covid-19, palliative care became frustrated and it affected their
emotional well-being that resulted distress and burnout. Palliative care is a clinical area of
specialisation.
• Health care providers was required to provide care services to both who were covid-19
positive and who were non-Covid.

• Brexit: Brexit and withdrawal of UK from EU also affected palliative care service
improvement to the great extent.
• It has resulted drop in the UK pound and this currency fall has negatively affected on
funding, received from UK based agencies to palliative care organisation.
• It affected economic condition of the UK and it has decreased spending capacity of
people.
• People were finding problems in accessing private palliative health care access and
services due to poor economic condition.

It increases frustration among them and delayed in providing qualitative services.
So, on the basis of above discussed contemporary issues, it can be said that both of these affected
service users and service providers in palliative care within healthcare sector.

• National: Government is one of the main national body or perspective that can have
positive impact on palliative care service and delivery.
• It is found that this hospice services are partly funded by the Auckland DHB and
provided to service users at no cost.
• This perspective and stakeholders played a vital role at the time of Covid-19 as it
provided fund to healthcare sector and made resources available that enabled healthcare
providers in providing services to service users.
• Local: Practitioners in healthcare sector and palliative care services also influenced and
affected on delivery.
Practitioners at that time helped them out in improving health as they provided additional
services to healthcare providers.
Practitioners took care of people with chronic disease after providing treatment by professional
healthcare providers. It improved overall health of people.
• Local media: Local media were other main perspective and stakeholder that affected
service care delivery in both positive and negative manner.

• Local media was the one that provided detailed and current information of covid-19 and
palliative care services to people.
• It made people aware about condition of health care sector and encourage people about
improving health by their own.
• On the other hand, sometimes, local media provided only negative and bad news like
increasing death rate of people with chronic disease and it increased fear among people.
• It increased chances of people to get affected with covid-19 and lowered their immune.
So, in this regard, it can be said that local media affected care delivery in critical manner.
• As at the time of Covid-19 and increasing rate of covid-19, healthcare providers were
facing problems in providing care to number of people
Educated and well aware service users and people with chronic disease helped out service
providers in improving overall health by engaging in treatment process.
They helped out healthcare providers in improving decision by providing suggestions and
sharing their views.
Whereas, some unaware people or service users created problems for service providers by not
cooperating them in treatment process.
National media and government national perspectives also influenced palliative care delivery by
providing funding and current detailed information to global people.

National media made people aware about health by providing detailed information of covid-19
cases and need of palliative care.
Government also provided fund and made clinical resources available and made service
providers able in providing qualitative services to service users.
So, on the basis of this, it can be said that stakeholders play a vital role in delivering qualitative
palliative care.
Other best ways of solving all these problems and negative impact of contemporary issues is:
increasing partnership of hospitals with other health care institutions and promoting
multidisciplinary team. Multidisciplinary team and experienced healthcare professionals in their
own specific area can help out in improving overall health of people with chronic disease. When
healthcare professionals of their specific specialised area work in a team then it increases their
knowledge and they are more likely to solve al problems and improving health outcomes.

Brexit and Covid-19 contemporary issues affected this care delivery to the great extent as it
increased risks for people. It has discussed impact of specific perspective on health outcomes of
palliative care. Lastly, it has recommended some better ways by which negative impact of covid-
