PPMP20012 Unit Portfolio: Contemporary Developments in PM Systems

This project analyzes contemporary developments in project management (PM) application systems, focusing on the relevance of systems thinking for project, program, and portfolio managers. The project explores the advantages and disadvantages of manual and electronic PM application systems across different PM knowledge areas throughout the project lifecycle. It also identifies how PM application systems assist project managers in monitoring performance and managing changes. Furthermore, the project proposes appropriate PM application systems for successful project execution in various industries. The analysis includes reflections on the impact and lifecycle of changes within a project, the importance of stakeholder engagement, and the flow of information between portfolio, program, and project levels. The project also considers the role of PMIS and other systems required to run a project, program, and portfolio.

systems thinking to

It is analyzed from the learning that are gained in this week that system thinking
is one of the framework that is helpful in reflecting the interrelationship that
reflects on the patterns rather than static snapshots. It is found that the complex
projects generally require bot the technical as well as managerial leaders who
can properly understand each other’s needs as well as requirements so that
they can be able to work consequently within an integrated way. It is found that
there must be proper substantial evidence that is mainly integrated with the
system engineering approach as well as project management that further helps
in adding value by further reducing the need of rework or replanning. In addition
to this, I have analyzed that proper stakeholder engagement within the project
generally helps in providing better understanding about the problem as well as
real requirements of the right solution that is related with the project. It is found
that proper learning about the various knowledge areas impact on this system is
also identified within the entire project.
