Society is an integral part of the world through which it functions and works in respective
manner (Chambliss and Schutt, 2018). There are number of societies present in the world which
are incorporated by number of factors and influence the world and its development. The present
work is elaborating on certain aspects of the social world and the contemporary society. The
work is divided into two section one conducts detailed information on the certain topics like
alienation, research techniques and others. In the second section of the report an essay is
presented on the topic “Role and Impact of social media in contemporary society”.
SECTION 1 – SOCIAL WORLD
Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Qualitative research involves collecting and analysing non-numerical information and
data from primary and secondary sources for example text, video, or audio with the focus kept on
understanding the concepts, opinions, notion and experiences. The process or the research
technique is used to gather in depth insights and critical knowledge on a specific problem and
also supports in generating new ideas for research and development. Qualitative research is
commonly used tools in the humanities and social sciences. The subject areas supported are like
anthropology, sociology, education, health sciences and history.
One major and specific feature of qualitative research and techniques used for collecting
data is, it is a source which uses open ended tools and conversational communication methods
for making evaluation and rendering appropriate results of the research.
Quantitative research is defined as a systematic approach and phenomena for conducting
investigation for gathering quantifiable data performs statistical, mathematical and computational
techniques. Quantitative research collects data from those sources which are already existing and
through potential customers of the entity using sampling methods and conducting online or
offline surveys, online polls, questionnaires, etc. The results of collected data and information
through different quantifiable tools are then be used for depicting results in the form of numbers
and digits. Once data is gathered after that careful understanding of these numbers is performed
for making prediction about the future of a product or service and make changes accordingly.
Qualitative research is the opposite of quantitative research, as it involves collecting and
analysing numerical data for statistical analysis.

Alienation is a term which states its occurrence when a person and an individual
withdraws or becomes isolated from their suitable environment or from other people with which
they are comfortable and place their belongingness. Those who are alienating are those who
often reject their loved ones or society and make themselves comfortable in isolated environment
and surroundings. Along with it they shows feelings of distance and estrangement not only fro m
friends, family and others people in life but also form oneself. This is a really complex yet
common condition which can be seen in people today very easily. Alienation shows
characteristics of both sociological and psychological. This is a harmful act which can be easily
affecting the health of the person as well as aggravate existing medical conditions of the person
if any (Shaikh, 2018).
The though of alienation is really scary but it can be treated and cured. A common
treatment process involves diagnosing the cause of alienation because of which it took place and
led the individual in such situation and follows through with treatment. There are number of
factors which can cause alienation like social situations, psychological disorders. The results of
such activities can be influencing the mental and physical condition of a person. The social
causes which plays part in alienation is when the person has the feeling of estranged from their
action they have been taking place in the workplace. Another aspect which can cause alienation
is adolescents where the child starts developing his or her personal perspectives where they find
themselves separated form their parents, teachers which causes anxiety in them in regards to
their social skills which leads to development of feelings to stay isolated and away from others
even the peer group as well.

Mechanical solidarity is the process which states and talks about the social integration of
members of a society withholding common values, behaviours, attitudes, ideas and beliefs. These
common values, behaviours, attitudes, ideas and represents a collective conscience that works
internally for individual members in order to cause them to cooperate and coordinate. According
to surveys and experts the forces causing members of society and people to cooperate were most
commonly and like the internal energies. Mechanical solidarity is like an inanimate solidarity
