Tourism is defined as a set of activities which are done by human beings for relaxation
purposes. Tourism activities include travelling to a new country or staying at a different place
away from home. Tourism activities are generally performed in leisure time to help reduce stress
levels in humans. It also allows people to spend time with their loved ones in different
surroundings. Travelling facilitate peace and happiness into the lives of people and also lightens
the burden of stress. This essay highlights understanding about the evolution of contemporary
tourism industry. The discussion also revolves around the relationship of contemporary tourism
with environment, society, culture and economy.

Contemporary tourism is considered as international refreshing and novel approach
which is applicable t study tourism. It is very useful to analyse the issues associated with
tourism. Contemporary tourism is a key tool to study the factors associated with tourism. It is
very helpful to achieve knowledge reacted to tourism. During the past few years, the world of
tourism has been changed rapidly. Contemporary tourism consist of destination marketing,
ethics, threats faced by tourism and changing world order. It completely relies upon several key
factors such as environment. It also assist to gather knowledge about health issues related to
tourism. Tourism industry always get affected by environmental changes and so, that tourism
sector changes rapidly. Contemporary tourism is developed with the purpose to offer quality
services to tourist (Han, Lho, Al-Ansi, and Yu, 2020). It ensures that all the basic facilities along
with necessary requirements are provided to tourists. Tourist place is maintained as per the
tourist requirements. There are certain issues associated with contemporary tourism including
knowledge economy, human resources, networks, globalisation and small businesses. To resolve
all these issues related to tourism, a concept of green tourism is developed. Contemporary
tourism has been developed to rectify and eliminate all the issues related to tourism. Tourism
related issues always hinders the increasing numbers of tourists. Tourism refers to package of
hospitality services and travelling. People love to explore new destination, where they found
quality services to live (Lewis, C. and D'Alessandro, S., 2019). Tourism related problems ruin
their experiences. Daily based analysis is very important to rectify these issues in order to resolve

them. Analysis help to meet the requirements of tourist. Quality services make tourist to feel visit
more and more and explore various new places. The number of tourists have been increased after
the development of contemporary tourism (Hamouda, 2018).
Economy of the country completely affects the tourism. Economy is defined as position
of country in terms of production of goods and services. It is all related with utilisation of
services and goods with money. It affects in both of the way positively and negatively. Positive
aspects include improved tax revenue, increase GDP, increasing amenities such as parks,
increase in employment, higher demand for local goods and better infrastructural facilities.
Tourism also assist country to increase its financial treasure. With the help of contemporary
tourism, government can provide better facilities to tourists. Improved tax revenue results better
amenities and infrastructural facilities (Seraphin and et. al., 2022). UK is very popular for tourist
places as it has many beautiful places to hang out. This beautiful places make it centre of
attraction of number of tourists. Local products of the nation is quite attractive and increases the
demand of customers for local products. Saling local products is help to increase the standard of
living. It make people capable of saving more and more money for their future. Increasing
demand of local products helps to make a identity of the country in a competitive international
market. Tourism contributes a large amount to treasure of the nation. That is why tourism affects
the economy of the country. UK also relies on tourism for its financial benefits as tourism make
contribution to strengthen the economy of the country. During COVID, UK was badly suffering
with financial crisis as nobody was allowed to go anywhere. Financial crisis increased the price
rate of local goods and products and affected the economy of the country badly (Timothy, 2019).
Environment is defined as surroundings and circumstances where people live. In another
words, it refers to the locality where people resides. Due to dynamic nature, environment keeps
changing. This also affects the tourism in both the ways positively and negatively. Protection of
wildlife creatures, afforestation and conservation of forests affects the tourism positively. People
love to visit nature full of wild life. Nature always attracts human being to come. Wild animals
make people come into the forest (Gudkov, 2021). People prioritise forest and greenery to spend
their quality times with their family and loved ones. Government of UK, is also being aware of
conserving forest and wild animals. Government has also mad e some rules and regulation to
conserve and promote wild life. Cutting forests and killing become illegal in UK. Government is
conducting activities to make people aware of conserving forests and wild animals. All are being

aware of conserving forest and wild animals for new generation. People who are cutting down
the trees, strict action are taken against him. Tourism has also some bad effects as it is increasing
pollution. People are throwing garbage here and there which is increasing the pollution rapidly.
These things are making environment messy and dirty. It has been analysed that during the
pandemic environment was observed quite clean as nobody was allowed to go out and creating
mess. Rivers and other water resources are being polluted as tourists throw garbage when they go
for hangout. Water animals are also dying just because of impure water. To save their life, it is
vital to stop pollution, strict rules and regulations are required to be made to punish people who
are responsible to make environment polluted (García-Gómez, Demir, Chen and Díez-Esteban,
2021).
Society and culture always affects life of individual person. Society is defined as the
people living together with same culture and tradition. It also affects tourism on both the ways
positively and negatively. Positive aspects includes promotion of brotherhood, assistance to
traditional art, preserving local culture and heritage, commercialisation and revitalisation of
customs and art and strengthening communities. Tourism promotes tradition art forms among
tourists. It is very helpful to promote local art and community in order to make profit. Tourism
always promotes and encourages local people to make and sale traditional stuffs. Tourism also
fascinates preservation of heritage. These preservation make archaeologists visit to the tourist
place to gather all the unique products. There are many stories behind this heritage which also
attracts people to come and know the interesting facts behind the heritage. Now, government has
made rules and regulation and thus restricted people to visit historical places. Tourism also
promotes brotherhood as people interact more to each other and make relationship across
different corners of world. People go to places to meet with their desires. As it has been analysed
that tor ism also have some negative effects. It has increased the crime such as human trafficking
and prostitution. Strict rules and regulation help to ensure safety of citizens. Tourism is also
ruining the natural resources as a number of natural resources are required to promote the
tourism. To prevent the depletion of natural resources it is very necessary to use limited amount
of natural resources (Aquino, 2022).
CONCLUSION
From the evaluation of the above essay it can be concluded that the tourism industry has
evolved a lot after the pandemic. This evolution has brought an increase in the financial treasures

of the country. These financial treasures have helped the government in providing the citizens
and tourists with better quality of infrastructural facilities. However, there are various drawbacks
of the tourism industry on the economy, environment, culture and society of a country. This
industry has the potential to deplete the natural resources of a country along with economic
alterations, which can be minimised by imposing strict laws and regulations. It is the duty of the
government to preserve the resources for a country to facilitate smooth tourism. Government
officials are responsible for implementation of rules and regulations for elimination of negative
effects of the tourism like human trafficking, kidnapping and forced prostitution. On the bright
side, there are several positive impacts of tourism as well, such as, promoting feelings of
brotherhood which is crucial to strengthen bond between different communities.
