Tourism is the industry which contribute to
the growth of the world economy.
Global tourism brings more jobs to the world
economy.
Important source of income
Global tourism account for 30% of trade in
services (Beirman,Upadhayaya, Pradhananga
& Darcy, 2018).

Global Tourism
Global Tourism is defined as
“tourists that travels and stay in
places across the world”.
It becomes global activity due to
globalization.
Directly contributes to 3.6% of the
GDP of the world (Uyar, Karaman &
Killic,2019).
Employment of 234 million people
Increase in young tourists
Forecasted as the big developing
industry

Everything has its positive and negative
outcomes, similarly global tourism also has
negative aspects (Buckley,2017). Focusing on
negative aspects of global tourism three
contemporary issues have been addressed

Safety and Security
The biggest issue in this industry and existed
for a long time
Safety and security in tourism includes
disaster protection, data safety, environment
security, and legal restrictions (Payam,2015).
For example; Nepal’s earthquake, Flood in
Spain, Australia’s bushfire
It is important for the countries to take care
of safety and security aspects of tourists in
order to promote tourism and to earn
foreign currency (Imbeah & Bujdoso,2018).

Climate and Weather
Tourism is dependent on condition of climate in the
countries
It is considered as “human based system” industry
Growth and business of global tourism mainly depend
on weather and climate conditions
Climate and Weather is taken as significant factor for
tourist’s decision making process
Climate change leads to destructions, dangerous issues
and decrease in tourism (Diaz,2017).
This issue can be solved by conducting awareness
programs and by implementing rules and policies to
control climate and weather change.

Over Tourism
Tourism when become more in a country affect
the local people then it is termed as over tourism
Many countries are raising their voices for the
rise of anti-tourism
Over tourism can negatively affect destinations
beauty and lead damage to the tourism industry
if not managed and controlled on time (Zillman,
2015).
This issue can be solved by forming strict policies
and rules related to tourist returns to their home
country and safeguarding to destinations.

Conclusion
Global tourism is considered as the process of staying
and travelling individually or with group of people to
different places and countries.
In a nutshell, there are three contemporary issues that
impact on the growth of global tourism industry that are
security and safety of tourists in different countries, the
issue of over tourism, and changing weather and
climatic condition in most of the countries.
It is concluded that in order to control and manage these
issues proper planning is required without compromising
with economic benefits, political situations of the
countries and impact on social and cultural environment.
