INTRODUCTION
The report aims to provide the importance of principles of management. Management is
the key of business which include functions like planning, organising, staffing, controlling and
monitoring. All these principles are given by Henry Fayol. Management functions are applicable
at all filed or areas whether to live life or run a business. It performs the functions in a
systematic way and focus on relationships, effectiveness, efficiency, social working and hence,
overall development of an organisation(Russell, and Ottow, 2021). Therefore, this report is
going to be a reflective paper on the comparison on contemporary and traditional approaches of
management. Also, there will be personal reflection about the knowledge gained during the
projects and feedbacks done in weeks. There will be evaluation of the areas which require
improvement and ideas for its development.

Major development in history of management in contemporary and traditional approaches
Management is the success factor for an organisation. It consist effective principles that
aid in formulating policies and strategies for maintain a positive work environment. Planning,
organising, directing and controlling are the key functions of management given by Henri fayol
(Reynolds, 2017). I have learned that, these principles works on different situation and for
different purpose. The organisation work as per the decision and guidance of managers set
according to each department. It is necessary to create a positive management environment in
which all planning has done to prepare strategies to give overall directions of work. Organising
resources such as man, equipments, materials are also a managerial function. Leading and
controlling are refers to ascertain any mistakes and work should be done under supervision. It
reflects that, proper structures is crucial to manage people and their job role. Therefore, from the
feedbacks which I decided on showing purpose of management in actual practices (Keeling,
2018). I gained knowledge that management is really applicable and helpful to provide practical
solution. A proper management leads to improve coordination, workplace disciple, achievements
of objectives and gaols. Also, I have gone through the historical and modern classification of
management. By the time, many things and procedures have changes a lot. as every time, new
technologies, provisions and market uncertainties influence on an organisation. Due to which,

management remain continuous and ever time comes with new and innovating planning and
responsibilities. I have gained a lot of knowledge during the lectures about internal and external
environment which is a part of contemporary management approach. It defines the relevance of
analysing factors which influence upon business functioning. I also learned why management
theory is useful which cleared my thoughts about learning from past mistakes will create better
future. The traditional approach emphasises on the development of industry by creative effective
goods and services and regulate it into the markets (Du Plessis, 2019). The approaches are
classified as classical, human relations, systems and contingency theory which reflects on
traditional practices of management. These approaches help in identifying solutions of
management problems. From this identification, I have learned that traditional method is
focusing on selling product and services, enable great profits and productivity. Whereas,
contemporary approach are created to formulate relationships, great customer service, retention
and long term success. Therefore, contemporary engagement works upon long term success of
organisation that is reason behind its utilisation in today's business.
Form my work I submitted on the quizzes and assessments on the knowledge of
management, I felt pleasure to receive feedbacks which shown me some good and bad areas in
me that I need to improve. I was able to provide understanding on management practices in
general but somehow lacks in applying it to the case studies (Gonzalo, San-Jose, and Retolaza,
2021). I was good analysing what theory and model organisation need to apply In their course of
action under different circumstances. This has made my understand further improved and leads
out my thought regarding various approaches of management. In addition this, I was able to
manage my work by gathering effective resources such as books and materiel to enhance
knowledge before submitting assessments. This shows that, there is requirement of more
practice to get catch on management models and approaches as all are necessary at practical
workplace (Zhu, and Zhu, 2020). For example, after making all the plans regarding companies
aims and objectives, the organisation must hire employees who can suit with the job role and
perfectly fits for organisation structure and environment.
From the evaluation of own areas off knowledge on the approaches of management, I
need to work more hard on understanding the concepts clearly. I need go through various case
studies of real-life organisation who actually facing management problems and due to which,
their performance are declining into market (Bouchet, and Sobry, 2019). I need to work on

more projects and some research by analysing actual work practices. Also, I must use these
management practices. In my day to working whether it is group projects, debates, lectures or
sessions that will clear more doubts and provide valuable solutions. The area of academic
writing also need some improvement to write my viewpoints and elaborate understanding over
topic. This will helps me to achieve good grades and less feedback in future.
CONCLUSION
The report has conclude that, management is the key function and elements that promote growth
and success of the organisation. It is necessary to analyse and understand various models,
approaches and theories of management that works in practical life within an organisation. It
leads to combine together efforts through high coordination, regulation of work activities and
fill organisation with talents human resource through effective planning. Therefore, the report
has shown own experience which require some improvements and some good areas that could
be the strength for future projects. It has analysed that, contemporary and traditional approach
are both focuses on different aspects.
