1. Identify the NMBA Registration Standard/s this assessment aligns with and
explain why these standards are important to nursing practice?
I have found that standards which aligns with this assignment are 1.1, 1.2 and 6.2 because
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is required in nursing profession to improve and
increase the knowledge regarding their area of practice and to enhance the professional skills.
And these selected standards are the best available evidence that provide safe and high quality
nursing practices. According to the standard 1.1 nurses should better analyse and make the use of
available data which includes researches in order to increase their knowledge. This helps them in
developing the practices through available reflection on the experiences and knowledge and help
the nurses in improving their practices (Scanlon and et.al., 2012). The nurses can develop their
professionalism by going through the researches done in particular field and getting excess of
information regarding their routine practice. Standard 1.2 acknowledge nurses regarding the
legislations, regulations, guidelines and policies that are required in the context of practices they
perform. It helps in the professional development by making them aware regarding the policies
and guidelines that are necessary to follow before performing any practice. These standard helps
nurses in enhancing their level of professional skills. These standards also help nurses in defining
their limits make them perform their practices in a particular scope of practice (Moxham, 2012).
Thus, all these standards are necessary to make nurses realize their scope of practice and need of
increasing the information regarding their profession.
2. Describe what CPD is, why it is as a mandatory part of ongoing registration
for nurses and its importance for?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD), is necessary in nursing as it helps nurses
and midwives to maintain, develop, improve and increase their knowledge, competence and
expertise which help in the development of their personal and professional qualities that are
required in their whole professional life. It is the process through which healthcare professionals
including nurses improve their standard of practice and develops the multi professional learning
in them (The importance of continuing professional development. 2014).
The CPD is necessary in the field of nursing to support the changes that take place in the
field of practice and embraced by them in their profession. CPD also have helped nurses in
improving the performance in their respective jobs, the quality of care they provide to patients,

enhances the organisational performance and also increases the service delivery quality in the
employment sectors with reduction in the cost. CPD acts as the vehicle for self development and
improvement in the nursing practices. In conclusion it can be inferred that it is the process of
updating the knowledge and skills and gaining new practices in order to increase the working
efficiency in the respective sectors. It also helps nurses in continuing there best contribution n
there working team. This helps them in advancing there carrier to a new height and helps them in
getting the new positions. CPD also help in developing the deep understanding regarding the
concept of professionalism and open up new possibilities for nurses (Uarije and et.al., 2017).
