Summary
The article throws light on how the higher recorded temperatures have led to the coral
bleaching. The journal discusses how the bleaching events have increased to a great extent and
how they have been documented through aerial photography and related images. It was
observed that, the rise in the sea temperature is the main factor contributing to the bleaching and
not the fishing pressure or the water quality. It indicates that there lies an immediate need to
curb future warming and save the reefs.
Long term issue and Implications
The long term issue which has been essentially highlighted in the journal is related to the
Global warming. The global warming as an environmental phenomenon has led to a rise in the
sea temperature and this has had a distinct impact on the coral life and beaches. In the long run if
no plans are made then it would adversely affect the marine life and the ecological balance as a
whole. The given aspect shall have a long term financial implication as well because it would
destroy the marine life and the industries surrounding the same.
Overall opinion
As an individual and a part of the society, I feel responsible for causing such an event.
All our activities ultimately contribute to the global warming and this is the reason, I feel that
initiatives are required to be undertaken so as to ensure that marine life and coral life can be
saved and the future generation can be offered a healthier lifestyle.
