Introduction:
According to companies act ,corporate social responsibilities is important to both the
customer and the companies. It is a self-regulating function that will helps a company to socially
accountable to its stakeholders, and the public. In the context of Starbucks, the manager has to
manage the CSR activities so that they can maintain good image in their audience and give back
to society for raw material they use . Under this report, their will be discussion on the CSR
activities and challenges company faces while implementing such activities.
Task
Analyse corporate social responsibilities and explain why business should practice CSR
activities.
The corporate social responsibility is referred as corporate opening to assess and take
responsibilities for the company's effects on social welfare. It is also referred as corporate citizen
ship that aim for improvement of the society and work environment. According to companies
act 2013, the CSR is defined as a process by which organisation looks after relationship with
the stakeholder and show its commitment improving the business strategies. It is a way of
conducting the business which also contribute to the social good. (Olsen, B., 2015)
CSR is vast concept that can tale many different forms in the organisation depending on
the size and scope of the company in the dynamic work environment. With the help csr , the
business can boost their product and service while serving their society in different location.
CSR activities helps in making stronger bong among the employees and corporations, also help
in boosting the morale of the employees at the work place to increase the productivity for the
organisation and it also help in making better connection among the member of the company.
Another point to take into consideration that company can adopt to CSR program when they
have reach a point to where they can give back to society. Starbucks is an international coffee
company has it base in Seattle, Washington and located around the globe. Starbucks is
involved in the number of the sustainability activities to become more environment friendly
including the recycling task . Some of the CSR activities of the Starbucks are as follows:

Recycling and waste reduction: Starbucks have started using jugs made of cardboard to
reduce the wastage and recycle the raw material. For example, it grown-up a cup summit, here
they recycle the plastic cup. ( Diale, B., Pillay and Fritz, E., 2014)
Energy conservation: coffee stores generate carbon footprint of the company which
need to save such energy to have lesser impact on the climate change. Starbucks make number
of investment into new energy effective lightning in the stores.
Water conservation: This stores uses lot of coffee and food beverages which need water
in the operations house. Starbucks wants to reduce their water consumption by 25% in coming
years.
Green building: Starbucks are looking for new design for their stores to reduce the
environment impact . For green stores it include installation of low flow vales material, effective
lighting , recycling flooring tiles.
Their are various challenges are faced by the organisation in implementing the Csr activities in
the management team as it required lot of money and time of the manager and leader to flow
such activities from time to time. They have to have promotion of education and gender
equality and empowering women. They have to invest time in help organisation who focus on
reducing child mortality and sometime need money to have proper functioning of such
organisation in the long run. The organisation has to take up lot of project which are beneficial
for the employees and employer in solving the conflict at the work place. The CSR committee
are mad to prepare the CSR policy which include various projects and program to embrace the
execution of the activities in coming years and focus on integrating the business model which
has impact on the social environment. Company are always have to implement such activities in
their management team so to have a effective impact on their audience and always contribute to
improvement of the society by providing needful things to its market. The CSR activities also
are difficult to apply in the organisation as rules and regulation are to be followed by the
companies.(Avidov-Ungar, O., 2016)
Conclusion:
As per above discussion , it can be stated that organisation have to implement CSR activities in
their work environment so that there is less wastage of natural environment. Starbucks are using
such activities which have a positive impact the performance of its employees and are able to
