Corporate Social Responsibility
Introduction
Every organization working in the business market has to obey some rules and regulation which
are essential for the corporate governance. In this situation, corporate social responsibility comes
in to play which offers an ethical platform to the organizations. As per business world CSR
activities are considered those activities which are essential for the organization to create a better
image in the community in which they are operating (Asmussen and Fosfuri, 2019). CSR
activities are more often connected with the public welfare because even developed countries
consist of some areas which are suffering from poverty and are in need of immediate helps to
earn their basic requirements. CSR activities helps in building a confidence in the employee of
the company by making them believe that their organization is working for the betterment of the
community. At present business world where companies are involved in various scandals, their
organization is taking care of the community in which they are operating their business
operations (Aguinis and Glavas, 2019). Many business men believes that they have already paid
for this CSR activity to the government in the form of taxes and there is no need to invest more
on these activities because it is reducing their profit margin which can impact their current
position.
Role of corporate social responsibility in the present world
Corporate social responsibility plays very significant role in maintain ethical activities with in
the business market on the global level. It is also linked with the essential steps which have
become very important for growth of the stake holders because growths of stakeholders are
outcome of the organizations image in the society (Jones et al., 2019). CSR activity helps in
interlinking organization operation with social and ethical events because of which organization
is able to build a trust environment in the society. This helps the organization to add more
potential customer which automatically increase their sales because CSR activities are one of the
most important promotion strategy used by current organization to build their positive image in
the market (Osagie et al., 2019).
Role of CSR in Samsung activities
Samsung is one of the innovative organizations which have introduced CSR strategy in their
business operations in order to support community in which they are currently operating. Under
this CSR strategy, Samsung in 2016 has invested around $1 billion in their chip manufacturing
plant in Austin, Texas. As per the study, it has been found that Austin, Texas was currently
suffering from unemployment and this policy helps to generate 500 jobs in the environment of
unemployment (Samsung, 2017). In this situation, Samsung has linked their social responsibility
with their business expansion because this activity increased the capability of Austin plant along
with creating jobs for the youths. In addition, Samsung organization has offered technical
training in the area in order to fill the gap related to technical skills required in present business

world. Company has introduce an apprentice and internship program which has offered great
opportunity for first year and second years students of Austin community college to explore and
learn the innovative technical skills which will helps them to improve their personal as well as
professional growth. The purpose of this program was to shape their future employees by
offering them a test of technical work of Samsung in advance. Samsung this program helped the
community in improving their present situation by focusing on innovative strategies in both their
personal as well as professional life.
Role of CSR in Google activities
Increasing carbon footprints has become one of the major issues for the global world and in order
to handle this issue Google organization has entered in to use of renewable energy and therefore
they are continuously purchasing renewable resource of energy in order to complete their full
power consumption (Valle et al., 2019). This is making use of various advance technology which
helps them to reduce carbon footprints in their campuses on the global platform (Dudovskiy,
2017). This strategy has helps the Google organization to emerge as market leader in the
environment protection global policy. In 2017 Google have introduced their 10,655 photovoltaic
solar panels in Belgium data center by introducing solar energy as the main source energy for the
campus which has helped them to cut direct carbon dioxide release from Belgian grid while
providing energy to the campus.
Role of CSR in Wal-Mart activities
Wal-Mart Company has also introduced CSR activity as the important part of their business
operations. In 2019, this company has introduced zero waste policy in their business operation in
order to reduce waste. They have eliminated the use of plastic in their business operation in order
to support environment protection form release of green gases from use of plastic (Walmart,
2019). In addition, they have also introduced a new strategy in which people from different
background will work with each other in order to support diversity policy in the organization.
This has helps the Wal-Mart in building trust environment in the organization by offering job
opportunities to individuals with disorder. This activity has helped the Wal-Mart in creating
special position in the minds of the community which has directly increased their customer base
on the global level. Wal-Mart Company has developed partnership with those companies which
are able to work with efficiency in order to work on zero waste policy on the global level.

Conclusion
Corporate social responsibility offers an ethical platform to the organization by which they
can build a strong relationship with the community in which they are operating. In addition,
it offers the opportunity to the organization to resolve issues which are connected with the
community in order to bring change in their life. CSR activities automatically increase the
confidence of the employees associated with this program because they believe that they are
actions are ethical while promotion healthy life in the society. In addition, many big
multinational companies such as Google, Samsung and so on believes that they have taken
enough from the society and now its their time to pay back to the society in order to keep
balance between give and take cycle of business environment. CSR strategy also offers
competitive advantage to these companies over other organization working in the community
by increasing their customer engagement.
