Subject: Corporate Social Responsibility Investigation report
Dear CEO Mr. Mathew Flanagan,
I carried out an independent report on the corporate social responsibility as ordered by you. As
the media alleged, the company’s CSR needed improvements. It was apparent that the company
was facing legal, moral and physical issues. It was evident that the company’s employees were
subjected to poor working conditions and the company was less concerned about the
environment. The report comprises of remuneration, working conditions, waste disposal methods
and environmentally sustainable practice
The payment rate in the company was below the government which stands at AU$15.96 per hour
which sum to AU$606.40 per week. The working day control system was unavailable which
forced workers to work for over 60hour a week with no off day.
The company emits a high level of pollutants to the environment which affects the employees
and the inhabitants around the vicinity. The toxic gases cause respiratory infections. The waste
disposal mechanism is poor and needs urgent rehabilitation to prevent further damage to the
environment.
The above issues were the main cause of the reduction in the productivity level in the company.
Being underpaid the employees were less satisfied, the company lost the control over its worker's
productivity and retention capacity went under-board. Through a face-to-face interview I carried
out, the employees showed their anger on the rate of payment saying it was too low. The delay of
payment by sub-contractors angered a number of employees because no apparent reasons were
given as to why delays were made.
Most employees were concerned for their safety and want immediate improvement on the
working conditions and waste disposal systems. There were complaints on respiratory infections
from the neighbors because of the toxic gases from the company.
To solve these issues, a good CSR must be put in place. Implementing good CSR will solve the
problems and definitely bring light to the company. First, the CSR will improve the company’s
public image, attract and retain investors and further boost employee engagement. Through a
powerful CSR, the company will increase innovation and creativity of its employees while
promoting individual volunteerism which is best to the society and the company.
Employees need proper rest breaks and day offs to prevent further stress improving their level of
productivity. To improve on environmental sustainability, the company needs to indulge more in
the recycling of materials and less use of limited resources.
I recommend that you create a CSR that is in line with the companies brand identity. The
creation must be backed by the shareholders to ensure full support. I also do recommend that
payment is standardized as NES permits. Waste disposal must be carried out according to a
