Analysis:
In this chapter different corporate level strategies are explained and the steps which needs
to be followed are discussed in detail. How the issues related to management, configuration,
operations and etc. are evaluated properly. For the portfolio management the BCG matrix can be
used for understanding and portraying the firm’s brand portfolio. Growth-share matrix is also a
very helpful tool which is used as a business tool.
These tools helps in using the relative market share and the factors of industry growth
rate for evaluating and analyzing the business brand portfolio and then recommend the relevant
investment strategies. There are different features to identify the brands with these tools. The
quadrant called as ‘Dogs’ holds the lowest market share and it is easily liquidated because its
market growth is slow. The quadrant called as ‘Cows’ are the profitable ones and it needs to be
‘milked’ or cashed as much as possible. The quadrant called as ‘Stars’ operates in high growth
industries. Quadrant called as ‘Question marks’ are those brands which needs more consideration
(Mohajan, Haradhan 2017).
To get profit from ‘Dogs’ quadrant it is necessary to do in-depth research about the brand
first to get a clear idea regarding their worthiness of getting invested. Some of the research
procedures are retrenchment, liquidation and divestiture. Easier way to analyze the ‘Cash Cows’
are to identify and invest into those corporate companies which are large and introduces new
products to the market. Without much cash innovation is not possible (Reeves, S and T 2014).
Proper allocation of resources and manufacturing the required product will increase the
sales volume of the company. This is in return help the company to sell more and attract more
customers and investors. If there is high market share then there will be enough capital to use

them in operation purpose of the company. Hence, there is a correlation between sales volume
and market share, if one increases then other increase and vice versa.
