In this era of globalisation, every organisation is competing with each other to stay ahead of their
rivals. In order to keep up in the market every establishment needs a great leader and a manager
for proper operation of the company. In this study different theories of operation management
will be discussed such as the six sigma and lean production theory. The operational management
approaches of total quality management and the concept of continuous improvement will be
focused to enhance the effectiveness of leaders and managers of Corus. There will be a detailed
discussion about the role of leaders, managers along with their skills. Corus Group Plc is world’s
sixth largest steel producing company. It is also a part of Tata Steel Group, provides employment
for around 42000 people across the world. Total revenue of Corus Group Plc is £12 billion on an
average (as per the case study).
