1: Explain the meaning of following terms?
A) Empathy: Empathy is defined as the ability in order to emotional understanding which is
based on people thinking, feeling and see thing from their point of the view and now they
are imagine itself in their place. In addition to this, it is help to putting in someone else
position and feeling which is based on the feeling. It is usually helpful in order to build
the social connection with each other. It is generally used for the regulation that is based
on the emotional factors (Bichard and et. al., 2019).
B) Unconditional Positive Regard: The unconditional positive regards are defined as the
involvement which is showing the aspect which is complete support and acceptance of
the individual of a person that no matter what the person want to say and do. There is
various therapist who used to state that they accept and support the client, no matter what
they want to say or want to do, placing without any situation and condition is also a level
of acceptance.
C) Congruence: Congruence is defined as the performance action which is based on
congruent between the aspect of real self and the ideal self. Moreover, the real self is
referring as to as the perceived self. The example which create understanding for the
congruence is when anyone state that he loves pets (Florence and et. al., 2019).
2: Identify and describe the components or stages of a counselling session?
Stage 1: Exploring skill: This stage is helpful to explore the customer state and condition and
they are basically related with the Rogerian counselling skill of the person-centred method. The
purpose of this stage is shaping a non-threatening therapy association with the client and help the
client in order to travel their situation and condition and focus on issue (Roddy and et. al., 2019).
Stage 2: Understanding skills: The main purpose of the stage is help and facilitate the client
developing in depth and the objective which create sympathetic of their situation and condition.
In Egan’s model of counselling show that they require skilled helper in order to assist the client
in exploring option and possible goals (Granbom and et. al., 2020). The client is usually focus on
their needs and provide a realistic requirement with in the counselling process that suggest and
reflect a basis for their improvement. In this, process the stage is usually prefer situation towards
the new understanding and also initiate the goal setting cognitive it is helpful to provide a focus

in order to solve the issue or problem and analyse the situation with the new perspective.
Moreover, the client must provide their reasons of complexities that is usually helpful for the
counsellor to achieve their goals.
Stage 3: Acting skills: This stage is help to assist the client in order to take proper action which
is by determining of goals, changing ways towards the relation and working through the issue or
the problem which help to solve the method and while providing support and care. According to
the action and strategies, the well recorded action planning is used to implemented on the issues
that is provided by client. In this, the new perception is used to adopted by counsellor in order to
solve the issue.
In this, there are some of the processes which is taken in the counselling session are
usually include five elementary step which includes:
Stage one: Initial disclosure: It help to provide the aspect which is based on the
relationship building with the client in proper ways.
Stage two: In-depth exploration: Problem assessment.
Stage three: Commitment towards the action: In this, clear objective and set their goals
for proper functions.
Stage four: Counselling intervention:
Stage five: Evaluation, termination or the aspect of referral
3: Skill used in counselling process
Attending: Attending in the counselling defined being in the firm of someone else and providing
that person attention. It is related with the doing, valuing them as worthy individual.
Silence: In addition to this, the silence in the major aspect which is used in counselling to control
the client content, pace and objective (La Marca and et. al., 2021). It helps to provide the space in
which the client used to recover their mental state.
Reflecting and paraphrasing: The reflection in the term of counselling is defined as the part
which is based on the art of listening. It helps to generate that the client is used know their story
which is being listened by everyone.
Clarifying and use of questions: Question in the counselling are usually show various skills. The
counsellor is used to show open questions to clarify the understanding which is based on the
client feelings.
