It is with utmost eagerness and enthusiasm, that I am submitting my application for the
position of Assistant in Nursing (AN) in Ward 2M of Logan Hospital. With respect to my
extensive educational, vocational and professional experience pertaining to clinical nursing
practice, I believe I am the ideal candidate for this position and thus, have a keen interest in
delivering services as well as enriching my existing knowledge by working with your esteemed

At present, I am in my second year of the Bachelor of Nursing Course at the University
of Southern Queensland. I have also completed my Diploma of Health at Griffith College in
2016 and an accelerating program of Certificate III of Aged care at Southbank Institute of Tafe.
My engagement in such educational courses demonstrates my acquisition of nursing skills
pertaining to understanding, critiquing and implementation of evidence-based literature in
professional practice and thus demonstrates my compliance to professionals nursing standards of

My current skills and capabilities as a nurse are a reflection and result of almost 10 years
of engagement in professional nursing practice. Between the years 2005 to 2006, I have worked
as a vocational, part time and as well as a full time nurse across a number of healthcare
organizations, as detailed in my attached CV. Throughout my extensive nursing career of
transitioning from a student to a professional AN, I have worked in various clinical departments
ranging from high care and low care units, which also demonstrates my experience in working
and collaborating with a range of health professionals and thus, my compliance with professional
nursing standards of participating in professional and therapeutic relationships.
I am currently working as an AN at the Bethany Christian Care hospital, where my duties
include supporting and providing personal care assistance to elderly residents during
performance of activities of daily living (ADL). Please find the attached Statement of Service of
my current professional responsibilities as an AN.
My responsibilities of providing ADL assistance to elderly patients are also indicative of
my adherence to professional nursing standards of maintaining respectful and sensitive
relationships with patients, since I required to continuously engage in empathetic, non-
judgmental and therapeutic communication with my elderly clients to ensure their fulfillment of
positive health outcomes and emotional wellbeing. My compliance to such cues as well as
present professional responsibilities of delivering assistance in aged care are major pre-requisite
skills relevant for nursing care implementation for dementia patients – which is why I believe the

capabilities.
