INTRODUCTION
COVID-19 has directly impact on the business activities and functions of companies prevailing
within the hospitality sector. In addition to this, hospitality industry faced many issues because of
implication of COVID-19 as government has imposed many restrictions in order to safeguard
people. The report will describe the overall summary of research proposal. In addition to this,
tools and techniques to evaluate data will be elaborated in the report.
Research aim: “To analyse the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on business activities and functions
of hospitality sector” A study on The Waterside Inn.
Tools and techniques for evaluating projects
There are different tools and techniques which are used by researcher in order to evaluate the
project and is given below:
Data collection: It is basically the procedure that will be followed by researcher to gather
appropriate and valid data for a specific topic. Along with this, it assist investigator to gain
deep in-sight about topic that further leads to development of valid conclusion. It is significant
for investigator to adopt an effective method of data collection so that results can be achieved.
Primary and secondary are mainly two forms of data collection.
Research instrument: It is basically the tools, methods and techniques that is applied by
researcher to collect information. It is significant for researcher to make use of appropriate
method to collect data as it has directly relation with the achievement of objectives. The
present research is based on primary data and to collect it, there are various sources can be
used that is questionnaire, focus group, questionnaire and many more.
Research Objectives:
To identify the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on business activities and functions of The
Waterside Inn.
To examine the issues faced by The Waterside Inn due to Covid-19 pandemic in managing
business activities and functions.
To recommend the strategies that can be adopted by The Waterside Inn for overcoming the
issues faced due to Covid-19 in managing business activities and functions.
Summarize information of project proposal
By completing the project proposal, it is summarised that COVID-19 has major implication on
the business function and activities of an organisation. It is determined that many of the hotels has
shut down their operations as they are not able to bear the expenses. Apart from this, there are
also other issues faced by hotels due to Covid-19 that is high government restriction, decline in
performance, decline in customer base, ineffective management of activities and many more. In
order to deal with this, hotels has adopted many strategies and shifted their brand promotions
towards digital marketing and online marketing as it help them to communicate and attract large
number of customers. Moreover, organisations also ensure safety of customers and follow all the
COVID-19 protocols so that the footfall has increase that ultimately leads towards increase in
sales and maintenance of performance.

It is also known as bar chart which shows the activities of research with the time frame required to
complete it. In addition to this, it consist of initial and completion time of every activity because
of which set objectives are attained timely. The Gantt chart of present investigation are as follows:
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it has been concluded that COVID-19 has affected adversely on the
business functions of hospitality sector and to deal with this, there are various strategies
adopted such as shifting towards digital, increase promotion etc. It is determined that
questionnaire is an effective instrument as it help to collect data from large respondents which
make study more reliable and authentic.
