INTRODUCTION
Overview of Research
Talent management is considered as science of adopting and implementing human
resource planning in order to improve value of business as well as to make possible for a firm to
attain its predetermined goal successfully and effectively. It is also considered as planning based
on requirement of human capital for a company in order to meet the need effectively. For
conducting effective talent management a company may conduct training which can be on the
job or off the job (Perold, Bruwer and Hattingh, 2020). The respective research is based on
Attendant Fitzrovia which is a café situated at London, United Kingdom. The researcher of the
project conduct analysis for determining challenges which are faced by respective café HR
department due to the COVID 19 while conduct their talent management practices related to on
the job training and off the job training. By conducting this they want to provide
recommendation to café that how they can conduct business effectively in this paramedic
situation.
Background of Research
In current time whole world is facing paramedic situation i.e. COVID 19 due to which
every nation is facing losses in respect of economy, man power, growth and resources. This is so
because due to respective diseases which is named as CORONA numbers of people around the
world lose their life as well as it also impact on the nation economy badly. Due to this various
peoples facing job loss, less salary and so on. While this every organization is facing issues
related conduct their human resources operations like planning, training, organizing and so on.
From all these one main issues or challenge which is faced by a company is related to providing
training to staffs so that they perform properly (Mhlanga and Ndhlovu, 2020). So researcher of
respective research is conducting research to determine what are challenges faced by HR
department due to COVID 19 in talent management practices as on the job and off the training.
Rationale of Research
The primary objective of conducting this research is to determine the challenges which
are experienced by HR department due to COVID 19 in talent management practices as on the

job and off the training. This is so because they want to know how COVID 19 is impacting on
the tourism and hospitality sector as well as they also want to determine what challenges faced
by respective industry HR department while conducting talent management practices like
training. Moreover, researcher also want to determine impact of COVID 19 on the café so that
they can provide them recommendations for overcoming in effective as well as appropriate
manner (Schilirò, 2020). In addition to this respective research project manager also conducting
analysis to determine the ways through which challenges which are experienced by HR
department due to COVID 19 while conducting talent management activity can be resolved
properly as well as successfully.

LITERATURE REVIEW
The most important aspect of the project is the creation of profound theoretical structure
which allows experimental work to accomplish truthful and accurate results. Secondary sources
are mainly used for literature review and thus the experimental work is not analyzed.
Publications, articles, journals, academics and others are secondary sources used in data
collection. Major purpose of literature review is to research the views of past writers in order to
highlight a particular topic (Bagnera, Steinberg and Edition, 2020). In Literature review,
examines in depth the purpose of knowledge. These data are gathered via consistent and valid
online sources. There has been information collected through the secondary sources about to
analyze challenges of COVID- 19 on the talent management practices, specifically training.
To review the literature on TM, tourism impacts, and public health issues impacting tourism
On the basis of Erik van Vulpen (2019) Talent management is explained as methodically
organized and strategic process of getting right onboard talent as well as assesses them to better
capabilities in order to keeping the organizational aims. This is systematic process of determine
vacant position and developing expertise person in order to match position. In times of COVID-
19 crisis, the management of talent always presents certain dichotomies which are focused on
unpredictability. These events start very suddenly, like the current one, but they may end briefly,
but continuous adjustments and lasting effects must be managed. The fact is that in light of the
significant and immediate effects on the people and staff, COVID-19 presents unparalleled
difficulties and expectations to business leaders (Basir-Cyio and et. al., 2020).
As contrary to this, Ishmael Mensah (2020) tourism has always been one of the pandemic
as well as crisis industries hardest hit. Pandemics and disease outbreaks make tourism attractive
to those at risk. To order to reduce or limit spread of viruses, governments usually impose travel
5

restrictions, boundary closures, isolation and social distance controls. The World Health
Organization issues travel alerts to prevent pandemics from entering destinations. Such measures
and media sensationalism in news reports make pandemic targets unattractive. This adds to the
assumption that flights will be cancelled and hotel reservations cancelled. It is advisable for sick
travelers to delay or postpone travel in the regions affected, especially for the elderly tourists and
those with chronic diseases or underlying medical conditions. In international media, tourism in
the public health sector became one of key public faces of COVID-19. Tourism has led to
disease's spread as well as to its effects on every aspect of tourism value or supply chains, due to
the complexity of the tourism network.
To understand the impact of COVID 19 on cafes
On the basis of Shelley Nadler (2020) Coffee is everyday component of the live of people
and for this reason coffee sector in United Kingdom is working hard to deal with impact of
COVID-19. While coffee houses and cafés closed temporarily to support the social distancing
initiatives, or members strive to keep retail product lines available. After months of the closure
because of lock-down of Covid 19, UK hotel sector will reopen tentatively with measures to
social distance. In partnership with Alpro, World Coffee Portal gained insights from 211 UK
coffee houses in order to get a better idea of impact of lockdown and the way to recovery.
As contrary to it Janice Chinna Kanniah (2020) The findings of the Coronavirus effect
show the challenging situation currently facing UK cafes and the confusion about their
businesses' future. 92% of the operators of cafes closed all (82%) or certain (10%) venues
temporarily. 87 percent said they suffered from coronavirus pandemic. In response to Covid 19
pandemic, most of the coffee store operators have changed their models or structures: 70%
changed to takeaway alone, 67% reduced operating hours, 57% reduced menu and 53% to cash-
free payment at all (Bikson and et. al., 2020). In the opinion of 3 out of 4 participants, the
pandemic would have a major short-term impact on their company and 35% believe this will
take two or more than years for company to begin to recover.

According to opinion of Tim McElgunn (2020) COVID-19 disrupting the businesses and
this impact on the human resource department in the talent management related practices. There
are some challenges faced by HR due to the COVID-19 mention below:
Talent acquisition and retention remains critical- While COVID-19 pandemic is
becoming ever clearer in its devastating economic effects, businesses and whole sectors are
losing employees and freezing. In early stages of eventual recovery, this may entail heavy
emphasis on contractors or temp staff. But the reputation of the companies among the candidates
will rely on the treatment they receive in the course of this crisis (Biron and et. al., 2020).
Higher total compensation demands- The employees are under constant pressure to
give themselves and their employees with good care. Employees won't hesitate to speak about
the situation when they believe like your reward is not equal. Workers reported that pay is the
main factor in their overall work satisfaction. It presents complex situation for manager with a
job that includes keeping the customers motivated while maintaining low costs.
Nurturing culture gets more challenging in dispersed workplaces- Culture is
vulnerable when the decisions are made on financial survival takes precedence over nearly all
else in times of crisis. Unfortunately, culture can also be automated and there really is no
technological solution which can preserve and improve corporate culture. The resources that
work are employee engagement, continuous contact and proven leadership dedication to the
community (Caligiuri and et. al., 2020).
To make recommendations to Attendant Fitzrovia regarding training in light of COVID-19 and
social distancing measures
On the basis of Ken Taylor (2020) Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is respiratory disease
which can spread through individuals. A moderate to extreme respiratory disease has occurred in
patients with signs of fever and cough. Employers and staff may ask what they should do to
avoid the virus spreading in workplace and handle situation. In order to provide the training to
staff members, Attendant Fitzrovia should use the virtual training by enhancement in the
attendance and the registrations for virtual conferences and also podcasts. Firm is searching for
approaches that transform instructor-led training easily in a virtual environment as the training
programs and activities move online. This subject quickly became top of our best-read list of

articles and was the highlight of well-attended round-table discussion with the Certified
Professionals in Training Management from around globe. It is not a small undertaking to adapt
the training content to morsel-styles, and educational leaders are finding strategies and tactics to
speed up their growth. Augmented reality (AR) for the training and on boarding can assists
workers reach different places in process. Attendant Fitzrovia can use AR to update and upload
handbooks and tutorials, and to save time & money.
As contrary to it Gloria Omale (2020), Social distancing steps are required by Attendant
Fitzrovia which cannot shift their workers from home during pandemic of Coronavirus. Public
health officials encourage "social distancing" as crucial non- pharmaceutical activity to slow
coronavirus spread, but also discreet actions are required to minimize people's behavior and keep
them physically away.
To determine ways through which the challenge can be resolve that are faced by the HR
department due to COVID 19 in talent management practices as on the job and off the training.
On the basis of Leslle Sambor (2020), Resolve the challenged faced through HR
department from COVID-19 in talent management practices as on the job and off the training
will take strategy as well as time. Several measures should take place in context to prepare
workplace for the new protocols that centered around mitigate after impact of COVID-19. There
is a need to Attendant Fitzrovia to develop a contingency plan for the infectious disease and also
response is proactive procedure that mainly used to determine as well as examine potential risks
which future prevent may be pose and also develop preventive measures. Other than this, for the
illness policies and procedures reporting at the time of COVID-19 should be in place. Attendant
Fitzrovi should examine the present procedure in order to incorporate particular rules that
pertaining to situation of coronavirus.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This is systematic analytic technique that was applied in the study area. It includes
theoretical analysis of the body as well as principles relating to the branch of knowledge. It is a
general research technique that assists to explain how an inquiry is to be carried out. Research
onion will be used to perform the research methodology. Research onion via Saunders et.al 2007

has been developed. The outlined sections should be adequately covered in the development of
the strategy (Cao and et. al., 2020). Different layers included in the research onion mention
below:
Research Philosophy
It is connected to a variety of values that primarily contribute to essence of the truth being
investigated. This explains a researcher’s thoughts and perception. Various philosophies of
research are interpretivism and positivism.
Justification: Positivism philosophy should be used in current research as this analysis is
primarily based on theory, which can easily reproduce and produce the true findings. Another
reason for using this philosophy would be that the observation of auditor is not affected by belief
in an independent approach (Chawathey, 2020).
Research Approach
This applies to useful and efficient data analysis method with two methods, for example
inductive and deductive. These are the different kinds of research approaches that help examine
quantitative and qualitative data. The researcher has been using a deductive approach to carry out
his current dissertation on the challenges which are faced by the HR department due to COVID
19 in talent management practices as on the job and off the training (Khahro and et. al., 2020).
Justification: It promotes the study of quantitative knowledge in less time and efficient
ways as a core goal of the deductive approach to current research. This research is not inductive
in that it is based on qualitative information that resulted in additional time and resources.
Research Strategy
This analysis layer demonstrates how an investigation has been performed. It is useful to
analyze research goals using certain methods of study. Various research strategies are available,
including action research, case studies, surveys, findings, interviews and much more (Marasco
and et. al., 2020).
Justification: The strategy of the questionnaire is used in this research as this is primarily
used in quantitative analysis and empirically analyses the results. These are used mainly by
means of questionnaires to research causative variables among people and their behavior.

Research Choice
There are three key choices for investigators that are mono, mixed and multi-method
analysis. The mono-method is effective for gathering a single form of data, for example
qualitative or quantitative. Mixing qualitative and quantitative research refers to the mixed
method. The mixed method is similar to multi-method but a difference is that mixed approach
combines research methods to establish a specific set of data, not multi-methods. This is an
efficient decision to use mono method to examine challenges which are faced by the HR
department due to COVID 19 in talent management practices as on the job and off the training
(Prasad and et. al., 2020).
Justification: The key reason behind mono method selection, as only one data form is
included; qualitative or quantitative methodology is applied. The researchers have selected
quantitative research methodology under mono methodology as it assists them to gather the
numerical as well as quantitative data over a short period of time. Other than this, qualitative
approach is not appropriate to conduct this study since qualitative data are required and it does
not help select a large number of samples.
Time horizon
The timeframe for completing the entire project is explained in part of the research
methodology. Two kinds of the time horizons are defined cross-sectional and longitudinal.
Cross-sectional horizon type, where information must be collected, is already identified. Some
type of statistical time period takes extra time in data collection. In research, the researchers
followed cross-sectional time horizons (Raisinghani, 2020).
Justification: The main aim of the cross-sectional time frame is to expand on the current
situation and does not need further time to complete the full research. Furthermore, the
researchers use the Gantt chart to recognize the start and end time period for completing the
research. The Gantt chart is main time management tool which enables researchers to graphically
present each research operation. It includes several activities supporting researchers in
identifying the beginning and end time of investigation.

Data collection
There are mainly two primary and secondary methods of data collection. Primary data is
defined as information obtained from the different sources e.g. questionnaires etc. or first-hand
information. Secondary data is obtained from the perspective of other investigators or authors
and secondary sources like articles, books, internet sources and some other sources (Shah, 2020).
In an evaluation of primary and secondary data collection, both data sources are used in relation
to the challenges which are faced by the HR department due to COVID 19 in talent management
practices as on the job and off the training. The questionnaire is applied for the collection of
primary data and review of literature is applied for complete the present research.
Data analysis
It is a critical and key process used for analyzing data in qualitative or quantitative terms
by the investigator. The current investigation is based on the collection of quantitative data and
frequency distribution was carried out by the researcher for evaluating this information. This is
an important technique that assists researchers in the development and distribution of frequency
table in a single table. In the analysis of quantitative data within a lesser time, the researcher
benefits from this technique. In present investigation, Ms-Excel was used to make a graph using
each question table related with the title of research (Wang and et. al., 2020).
Sampling
This method has mainly been used in statistical analysis by the large-scale population of
pre-identified observations. This is used primarily for sampling large populations based on the
