3. Relevant literature review:
One of the major research topics for many practitioners and academician is the impact
of teamwork on the performance of employees and organization as a whole. Teamwork is
defined as the occupational skill that is considered necessary for the achievement an
accomplishment of goals, visions, objectives and plan of organization. The link between the
performance quality and teamwork in the workplace is clarified by the various reasons and
causes. It is indicated by the researches that performance of employees can be improved due
to the concept and effective behavior of teamwork (Choi et al. 2017). Individuals are being
replaced in the organization by the teams because they serve as the basic building blocks.
Different scholars have found that the performance of team members is related with the job
satisfaction. There are two types of role that are performed by team individuals which include
beyond the activities of job description and described by job description. The increased
performance of employees is directly linked with the culture of organization as it has been
found that company or organization is assisted in gaining competitive advantage with one of
the factor playing important role that is culture (Mone and London 2018).
It has been found that organization emphasizing on the teamwork results in
experiencing greater production, employee performance and enabling employees to generate
better problem solving ability at work. Interpersonal team skills and team of self management
are the two factors that influence the communication and interpersonal relationship between
team members (Mo and Shi 2017). One of the research studies concludes that manager
emphasizing responsibilities to employees in the form of group is considered good and
skillful (Tarigan and Ariani 2015). Although, the performance of employees is considerably
influenced by degree on the teamwork, it is required by organization to develop strategies

that would help in improving performance in the light of competitive environment. An
organization building teamwork helps in retaining and attracting the best talents as the team
offers challenges, greater participation and a feeling of being accomplished (Hanaysha and

Work within an organization is positively or negatively impacted by the perception of
employees about teamwork. The perception of work environment in relation to member
attitude has been explored by many researchers. The way teamwork is perceived by
employees determines how the teamwork would create an impact on overall performance of
organization. The relationship between performance of employees and team is supported by
several reasons because it is viewed by many scholars that one of the significant drivers of
improving the performance of firm is through teamwork. It is also defined by literature that
three types of behaviors determines the proper working and functioning of organization
(Guchait et al. 2016). These include joining organization and staying with it, performing
innovatively and performing work related activities. Behavior of team is dependent upon the
third activity and it has been found that the performance of team members influences the job
satisfaction of employees (Journals.sagepub.com 2019). Organizational team behavior is
considered important as it helps in improving the productivity and effectiveness of team
members and organization as a whole. The performance of organization is highly dependent
upon the teamwork and developing the spirit of teamwork among employees is considered
very important in light of technological advancement that has made the organizational
activities quite complex (Friedrich and Ulber 2017). Nevertheless, an ambiguous connection
has been revealed between performance and teamwork in the literature. This has been related
with the personality factor of individual by most of the researcher. The factor that helps in
determining whether the contribution of teamwork in improving the performance of
employees, or not is two of the five dimensions of culture that is individualism and

on the performance of sales representative of COYA Investment Limited. In this aspect,
researchers have some different opinion and it is argued by some of them that for completing
the respective tasks, number of ideas are required, which is enhanced by the contribution of
the individual members working in a team. Other employees dominate employees speaking
less as they leave a major part of the job on latter to complete it (Fu et al. 2015). In such
scenario, the morale of employees is reduced but many of the researchers arguing about the
positive impact created by teamwork.
Factors related to teamwork:
Due to increasing competition among industries and growing challenges in
technology, building of competent teamwork has become difficult task. Several challenge
shave appeared due to development in all fields that make it harder to strong teamwork

performance of employees does not depend considerably on teamwork (Tarigan and Ariani
2015). Therefore, after analyzing the literature review, it can be inferred that there exist
ambiguous connection between performance of employees and teamwork. Performance of
employees is also dependent on many other factors aside from the teamwork. Several other
factors influence the performance of employees within the organization. In addition to this, it
can also be said that teamwork is considered more effective than working independently.
Nevertheless, it is not only the team that influences the performance but also the structure of
team that is found to be positively influencing the performance of employees. This view
provides with the remark that the performance of employee is not only dependent upon the
teamwork. It can be considered as one of the crucial factor but cannot be the only factor
determining the performance of employees (Iqbal et al. 2015).
4. Methods of research:
4.1 Research design
In this research paper, a combination of explanatory and descriptive research has been
used. Explanatory research conducted is quantitative in nature and the reason why this study
has incorporated such research is that all the facts related to research topic would be
explained in detail. Furthermore, the cause and effect between dependent and independent
variables are tested and explanation of how such variables interacted is also provided. The
researcher has adopted inductive approach to research as the data set collected intends to
generate meaning for identifying the relationship and patter between variables. In addition to
this, the research work is based on positivism philosophy as the strategy of research is based
on the data collected and thereby the analysis is attached to quantitative nature. Since the
study is conducted using the technique of quantitative research, quantitative data were
collected from the sales representative of the company given in the case study. During the

has been taken in the study by distribution of questionnaires among employees. The
questionnaires were distributed to the respondents two week prior to conducting the data

ranges from 1 indicating strongly disagree to 5 indicating strongly disagree (Noe et al. 2016).
4.4 Type of data
In order to generate realistic view on the concerned topic of research, it will be better
to rely on primary data. Therefore, the type of data, which the researcher has used in
evaluating the topic, is primary data. Primary data was obtained and collected from the
questionnaires that were distributed to sales representatives of COYA limited. In the given
case, for conducting the research, all the fifty sales representatives will be questioned seeking
their opinion and perception about the teamwork and their answers to the questions will form
data. Primary data is considered to provide high accuracy and original that is relevant to the
topic concerned. The study is based on primary data because it assist researcher in
investigating the ground issue and will recommend and useful findings. Such data will help
researcher in making them acquainted with ground scenario and come with own
recommendation and conclusion (Katzenbach and Smith 2015). Since the research work
