1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
CQU University is planning to organise a week celebration of NAIDOC (National Aborigines
Islanders Day Observance Committee) in its campus from 8 July to 15 July of this year. This
week celebration is performed in viewpoint to boost awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islanders community. At the time of this event, numerous opportunities are generated for students
and staff working at CQU for making them participates actively. The week celebration of
NAIDOC has a certain theme that is 'Because of her we can'. This particular theme is celebrated
in order to determine the specific role played by her and she will be playing to continue her
significant and active role or responsibility in following community, state, local and working at
national level. SET (School of Engineering and Technology) Indigenization based committee is
used to propose or anticipate the project hosting of NAIDOC week. This project enables staff and
students to collaborate and engage themselves with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
during this event. This event even aware staff and students regarding their culture and community
protocols.
1.2 JUSTIFICATION
For week celebration of NAIDOC, some of the output of the project is expected to be developed.
This developed project plans to monitor all activities and events in proper time-based limitations
and cost so it delivers growth to managers as well as universities associated with NAIDOC
committee. Along with this it also proves to be advantageous in gaining various understanding
related to people associated with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. After the execution of the
entire project, different outcomes along with its benefits are evaluated.

2.3 Stakeholder Communication
A specific type of medium is required among stakeholders for better communication which could be
beneficial to both the NAIDOC committee and university. The combination of pull and push
technique for communication proves to be the best method used. Several communication techniques
are present but techniques of face-to-face most effectively demonstrate communication methods.
The techniques are defined well according to the better understanding of the delivered message.
Communication taking place should be transparent, honest, constant and frequent completely
through the project. Stakeholders play an active and vital role in making efforts for better
communication. The table provided below demonstrate several methods used at week celebrations
of NAIDOC.
For the method of collecting entire information from stakeholders and gathering it, PULL
techniques are used.
For the method of delivering certain knowledge to staff, students and different stakeholders of a
particular project, PUSH techniques are used.

3 REQUIREMENTS MANAGEMENT
3.1.1 Traditional Owner/s of the land on which CQ University campuses are located
Traditional landowners which belong to the main campus of CQU university and celebration week
of NAIDOC is also carried out in the main campus. The landowners are represented as primary
stakeholders that are generally university people only. A lot of requirements are made for
celebration week for the occurrence of events and activities. A Clear discussion must be done
regarding requirements of the land of the university among different stakeholders that are managers
of project and NAIDOC committee. They are even documents just like a legal agreement.
Occurring events require proper arrangements regarding accommodation in campus area only. The
fulfilment of these requirements entirely depends on funding provided by sponsors of the event. At
the time of celebration week, both staff and students used to stay in campus so as to manage
activities and events according to several effective techniques. This even includes numerous
practices which decrease the risk occurring in events at the time of implementation of projects.
3.1.2 Opening statement style
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community decides and develops several protocols and culture
that defines two different opening statements that are 'Acknowledgement of Country' and 'Welcome
to Country'. These particular statements are provided to specify contribution towards indigenous
Australian community and national locality. The selected theme 'Because of her we can' describes
the specific role which she plays continuously for the activeness of the community.
'Acknowledgement of Country' is used specifically by different executives that emphasize people's
contribution towards the country.
3.1.3 Requirements gathering for each event
Methods for gathering and collecting of requirements for every event are performed in perspective
of two introduced methods which are defined below:
 Survey: depending upon past occurred events surveys are performed which are examined
that enables to gather the all requirements needed for the event occurrence.
 Interview: This method includes numerous sessions of the interview that are organised to
gather the reviews of various stakeholders who possess an past experience of celebration
week of NAIDOC. By examining previous occurred activities and event's one receives an
idea regarding the requirements of the proposed project. It provides knowledge gaining
regarding its protocols and culture. Even the NAIDOC committee members can enrol
themselves for a session of the interview so to better explain regarding requirements.
3.1.4 Requirements traceability
Requirement traceability is a type of matrix in form of a grid that is developed for requirement
linking of projects. The requirement should be in such a form that it satisfies project demands. They
are implemented in such a way so that business value can be extracted depending on terms that are
relevant to objectives of the project. All project related requirements throughout the lifecycle of the
project can be easily traced using requirement matrix along with approval. The document must be
presented in the form of the provided structure defined below.

The requirements prioritization is set using the technique of MoSCoW. This enables gaining a
certain growth against several competitors. This will prioritize requirements depending on several
terms defined below:

4 SCOPE
