Sarah Balkeslee develops a tool that ensures the liability of resources and have made easier for
students and educator to make sure if their sources are trustable. Currency determines that if the
source of information is trustworthy to check the currency and ensure the validity of information.
Relevance considers the impact of reliability of information around research endeavor. Authority
will analyze the publisher, authority of information to check reliability. Accuracy includes the
reliability of the findings and ensures if information can be linked back to its original point of
origin. Purpose ranges from teaching, information, or self-gaining purpose so to ensure that they
are looking right for research (Lewis, 2018).
Summary
It can be concluded that the CRAAP test was develop for helping the tutors and scholars to
understand the relevance of information reliability considering five elements to ensure the
reliability. Here CRAAP stands for Currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. The
key advantage was that it help to know if information is most recent through currency, the
reference of the information has considered intended audience so to increase the access by
relevance. This ensured that the author of the information was eligible to provide the information
on the topic through authority. Accuracy has focused over the sources trustworthiness and ensure
is information is free of mistakes and writing errors. Lastly, it ensured that the objective of the
information is useful for the readers by purpose element (Seeber, 2018). By knowing the
information purpose it helped the readers to research easier sources.
