INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development facilitates in the enhancement and improvement
of an individual's abilities to acquire new and innovative learning opportunities for career
growth. It is very valuable for an individual to concentrate on his/her personal as well as
professional development so as to determine the goals and desires and to accomplish the same in
the future run (Alvarez and Schultz, 2019). The report encompasses my career journey and my
experience drawn from the same. It also discusses my current skill set and the action plans or
personal development plan or strategies that will be adopted by me in order to enhance the same
and tap new opportunities as well in the near future.

Choose a target INDUSTRY and target job where you either are/ or want to work as
I would like to work in the transport and vehicle industry as I have the adequate
experience which is required to sustain and succeed in the same. I am supremely passionate
about the working antics of the transportation industry and will like to build my career in this
industry only.
There are numerous ethical issues in transportation industry such as unnecessary movement of
drivers, illegal movement of goods and services, insurance issues of freelance truck drivers,
avoidance and negligence of check points etc.
A creative and ethical leader
It is very essential for me to maintain my own accomplishment and evolve and enhance
effectual vocation. I have determined that maintaining work ethics like legal transportation and
proper inspection to avoid transportation of any unethical good can turn into a very leading
example for people in the field. This is terminated that if I need to develop my knowledge then I
have work on the qualities of the leadership. These will be going to pull off the activity decently
and develop my growth. The role of the ethical leader is very important in the organisation as
they are the one that responsible for the smooth functioning of the organisation.

Creativity is not a major component of transportation industry. But leadership is
considered to be a very important determinant of the same. Transportation industry requires good

standardization of leadership within itself so as to track the operations of the employees in a
better manner and to facilitate the further enrichment of the same in their respective
industry (ivimäki and Meriluoto, 2018). There is much requirement for me to enhance new
modes and pull off the activities in effectual mode. The theories are framed as partition of
directions that were formed in 19th century. There are different components include in the
direction procedure that will support in increasing the development (Rimmer, 2018). The
scientific theory was introduced by the Taylor and it expressed that for achieving advanced
execution, so this is much needed for me to pull off and maintain the ratio of all functional
projects and state. I have identified that I can maintain and control prompt flowing of dealings
when targets and aims are earned. My talent management skill got enhanced while due to this job
position. I was able to interact and communicate in a better manner in comparison to how I used
to communicate earlier. This job helped me to become more confident and outspoken as well.
My experience as site supervisor was brilliant and it helped me to learn so many tactics in
relation which how to manage people at work and hope to get the work done effectively as well
as efficiently. Working at this position also facilitated in raising my degree of productivity. The
specific job position can help in better talent management and lead to enhancement of driving
skills as well. Being a HGV driver is not an easy task as an individual need to bear major risks
and is entitled to big responsibilities. The position also leads to experience in leader and assist
people to effectively operate vehicles up to or over 7 tonnes such as heavy trucks, tanks, lorries
etc. (Anjum, 2020).

education. As an individual, I am planning to acquire skills such as leadership skill, team
management skills, communication skills etc. which can help me in my personal development
and professional development
It facilitates an individual in examination their competence through the application of
their knowledge in the practical conditions of the respective work place. Nowadays, business
organisations want to recruit individuals who are experiences in their particular field of job and
are skills enough to take all the responsibilities associated with the same. Thus, it becomes very
essential for students to apply for internships and job early in their careers so as to gain adequate
experience so as increase their chances of capitalisation of good working opportunity in the
business environment. I believe that in order to achieve greater height in the career it very
essential that an individual grabs the opportunity of gaining good experience. I have worked in
several organisations at different positions which has provide assistance to me in enhancing my
career graph. At my first job, I was assigned the role of a site supervisor.
As a site supervisor I was responsible for supervising and monitoring the operations
carried out by the workers of the organisation. I also had to supervise the work activities of the
sub-contractors so as to communicate the details related to the same to the further concerned
management. In was expected to conduct the inductions at the sites and to brief the workers
about the necessary information related to their operations. I had to make sure that safe working
conditions are regulating at the site and all the safety measures are taken by the worker so as to
reduce the possibilities of any hazardous danger at the site. I needed to determine that the rules
and regulations set by the organisation in regard of the work provided to the workers is taken into
consideration. This job role helped to learn and acquire necessary insights about the management

I have also worked as sweeper driver and was employed by the street department so as to
make sure that proper cleanliness and hygiene is maintained at the streets in order to reduce and
furthermore eliminate the chances of blockage or accidents. I was responsible for driving a street
cleaning vehicle which in turn assisted in removing unnecessary trash from the streets. I was
expected to report containment sections of the city and to ensure that they are clean and non-
contaminated.
I was responsible for reading maps and locations in order to reach the destination
effectively. I had to inspect the vehicles before transporting the lined up materials in the same
and needed to make sure that the goods and materials are safe and secured. Loading and
unloading of the concerned goods was also my duty. Being a HGV driver helped me to be more
assertive and attentive in my work. It increased my alertness as well as concentration. My
experience at this job was very exhilarating as I had to travel to different places and destinations.
I loved travelling and this is one of the reason that I was very satisfied, content and happy when I
was performing my duties and responsibilities towards this job.

organisation’s operations. So the factors are mentioned below:
Political Factors:
It is the factors in which industry is affected by political conditions of country. It includes
safety regulations, emissions policies, etc. related to the automotive industry. Safety regulations
have different from one country to another and they are very important to follow for automotive
sector as drivers are driving vehicles in the road that is dangerous due to the increasing in day to
day crowd. So that’s why it gives a great impact on this sector as if they are not follow them they
have to face many consequences such as legal actions including penalties.
Economic Factors:
It is the factor in which an industry has to identify factors that effect on individual
disposable income, economic growth rate, etc. Day to day purchasing a car get more popular for
the country that enhance the market of this country.

automotive sectors as they have to improve their technologies if they want to satisfy their

DHL SLOUGH. My current organisation has a very good working environment and I am very
happy with working in the same. My earlier job of working as HGL driver at Hire Slough helped
me to gain relevant experience in this industry and also assisted me in grabbing my current job
position. My experience of working as HGV driver is very exciting and every day is like a new
opportunity for me to experience new places and people.
All of the above mentioned working experiences have helped me to be who I am today.
These experiences have helped me to take better decisions and has facilitated me to be more
flexible in order to adapt to the dynamic changes of the environment (Bertelli, 2017). I have
gained a lot of industry insights while working at various different job positions and the same has
equipped me with the appropriate skills and competencies.

assumption, abstract concepts and data
It is necessary for transport and vehicle industry or an automotive industry that they have
to use some important tools or techniques in order to identify and analyse the trends and
challenges in this industry. For that purpose, PESTLE and Porter’s five forces model are the best

identification and analysing of all factors that can be effect on organisation operations and this
industry. With the help of these tools they are easily identify the factors such as trends and
challenges for automotive sector.

Personal Development plan enables an individual to identify and determine where an
individual currently stands and the development planning and strategies that can be adopted by

It also helps the individuals in order to understand their existing skills and to focus on the

achieve the desired results in the limited time duration assigned to the completion of the goals
and objectives formulated by an individual. I am a very honest and hard working person who
believing in providing my best potential in order to effectively complete the task assigned to me.
