1. How am I a creative thinker?
Creative thinking refers to the process of nurturing our imagination that allows us to think
about a certain subject, going out of the box. It involves applying new and unique thoughts
and positive ideas on a particular situation to generate positive result, in a way that is
different from the rest others. Every human is different in his or her way of thinking and
perspective and therefore, I think we all are unique and creative in our respective professions.
However, I think I am also a creative thinker. This is because I have seen none to have the
skill that I possess. I can sit down and write the things that comes to mind within a fraction of
seconds and this happens all the time. With the same, I am extremely curious. I always keeps
on asking questions like “Why? Why not?” and I am also eager to learn things that I have no
idea about. I am also very goal oriented and I am always focused on my goal not matter what.
I always ensure to write down it very clearly so as to keep a track on my progress and
visualise them daily until I achieve it. Moreover, I have the potential to generate more and
more ideas. I write those ideas and make a plan for implementing them by means of creative
thinking and then, I take the necessary actions. Above all, I would like to mention that I
believe in myself a lot and I never afraid of admitting my mistakes.
2. An example of creative thinking in the world around me.
One of the best example of creative thinking that I have came across in the world around me
is that of the case of Von Sternberg, a famous Austrian-American film director. In the year
1925, he directed his very first film called “The Salvation Hunters”. Later in 1930, Sternberg
received an invitation to direct a film that would be featuring “Emil Jannings”. Sternberg was
well aware of the kind of person that Jannings was, as he already worked with him earlier. He
knew that Jannings is a very disruptive man and he would do anything to disturb Sternberg
and the flow of the entire production. Sternberg did not want to let history repeat itself as he

was a man of discipline. Hence he decided to plan a strategy. He just wanted a successful
completion of the movie. Sternberg decided to prepare himself for all the games that Jannings
would play. He did exactly what Jannings demanded the director to do. Right from visiting
his dressing room each morning to taking him for free lunch to listen his ideas, showing him
extra affection and care, Sternberg did everything without any complaint and resistance.
Jannings thought that everything was in his control and Sternberg on the other side, made
Jannings do what he desired without any arguments. Jannings, thinking everything was in his
control, gave the best performance in the movie. Hence, the movie was completed without
any sort of disruption and also became one of the blockbusters. The name of the movie is
“The Blue Angel”. In their way, Sternberg used his power of creative thinking to solve his
problem.
3. An example of the use of creative thinking in my chosen profession
I consider creativity as an art of generating new ideas to solve a problems. I have always
dreamt of becoming a nurse. Therefore, I decided to complete my higher studies on nursing
from the Biomedical Science in The University of Technology of Sydney. There are so many
things in nursing that has not yet been invented but are already in use by the nurses such as
using cardboards as funnels and the trash can lid as the trays for medicines. When I was
practising as a nurse in one of the surgery centres of Sydney, I was asked to bring a
tourniquet in the room. I was well aware about the purpose of tourniquet and I handed the
surgeon two feet of rubber tubing. I was normal but the eyes of the surgeon grew wider than
anything. I got nervous and said “I thought you asked for tourniquet?” She thought I was
kidding her. She was actually working on the leg of the patient. So, naturally the tourniquet
would be applied in the thigh area. However, I never realised that a machine called tourniquet
has been already invented with a fancy and good looking tourniquet cuff in it. How in the

world could I know that? I never heard about that before and therefore, I was comfortable
with the rubber hose alone.
4. An example of the creative use of social media
One of the best example of creative use of social media in contemporary world is that of
ability of the common people of going live on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram
etc. People today can not only get in touch with people sitting millions and millions distance
away from each other, but they also can share their live activities with their near and dear
ones and with everyone all over the world. It is also used effectively for business purpose for
many of the business tycoons. Beings authentic is one of the significant aspects of
storytelling and it should be noted that there is no other way to be real to your customers and
fans than to get engaged with them. For the leaders and the film stars and actors, it is a great
way to reach their fans and followers. They reach them through Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook is something that even the older generation uses today. Also, it ranks the live
videos higher in the News Feed when they are live than after the video end. With the same,
through Instagram, people share their high quality images with some really captivating
caption with the people all over the world. Today, most of the businesses like Airbnb etc.
Uses Instagram to reach maximum number of audiences by sharing the best pictures of
company operation, products and services. These are not only some mere photos. In fact, they
act like the storytellers.
