1REFLECTION ON BEING A CREATIVE THINKER
How am I a creative thinker? What all qualities are there in me that makes me a creative
thinker? Does that make me any different from the others? These are quite interesting questions
which not only enables me to provide an account of the unique capabilities I have been endowed
with, but is also an opportunity for me to assess myself and determine, whether I am indeed a
creative thinker or not. Well, the most generic qualities of a creative thinker rests on the fact that
they are innovators, seekers of opportunities, and crisis managers. In my personal opinion, it is
not always necessary that a person has to bring about some novel idea and contribution in order
to be an innovator. It can also mean how effectively a person is being able to look in to a
situation critically and loom for a suitable solution from within the existing set of solution,
combine the techniques and try out on providing a new solution. Innovations, as far as my
understanding goes, is more often than not built upon the existing ideas, hence I concentrate
more on grasping the basics of any particular issue. Once I can absorb the basic idea, I can
definitely maneuver my ways to find a solution. I am also on a constant look out for
opportunities to exhibit my creativity in all the possible fields where my expertise or my
creativity shall be needed and respected. Most of those opportunities have been situations of
crisis where I have had the opportunity to showcase my creativity and solve the issues
effectively. As a creative thinker myself, I have well understood the fact that complexity is
dynamic in nature and it would be wrong to resort to the same method of finding a solution for
even a similar situation of complexity. To conclude I shall be saying that, not all situations have
borne favourable and positive results where I have expressed my creativity, but that has not
deterred me from being creative. A situation of failure does not demotivate me, rather, it inspires
me to broaden the horizon of my creativity.

2REFLECTION ON BEING A CREATIVE THINKER
Having provided a personal account of the form of creativity I epitomize, the discussion
shall now be focusing upon the second question which asks for an example of creative thinking
around me. I would like to give the example of the cartoon series, with special reference to my
personal favourite, Tom and Jerry. The mischievous travails of Tom and Jerry never fails to bore
an audience given the fact that the producers have very skillfully tried to portray the skirmishes
of between two characters with a hint of humour and excitement in it. The audience is always
anxious about what is about happen next, how shall Tom react to Jerry’s naughtiness, how shall
Jerry escape the wrath and fury of Tom. This is what creativity accounts for. There are several
other cartoon series but the charm of Tom and Jerry does not seem to lose itself in the quagmire
of the various options catering to entertaining the children all across the world. Tom and Jerry
still stands out to be unique and timeless. That is what creativity accounts for, it demands that a
manipulation consisting of making people believe that the thing which is being provided is
indeed something new and it must be made to appear new each moment. It is so because the
human mind and capability is limited though its capability is infinite (Finke 2014). Hence,
creativity must be generated by means of churning out a new thing out of the old as one gets to
see in Tom and Jerry, whereby Jerry and Tom are forever engaged in fights with each other but
the antics are indeed creative and that makes Tom and Jerry a perfect example of creativity.
