Introduction
I have learnt that meeting deadlines is an important issue. This is in terms of tracking
the activities of the people, so that they can achieve success. Sometimes, it is really difficult
to get relevant information for the project (Healey, Vuori & Hodgkinson, 2015). Examples
are finding appropriate definitions, previous journals, and reliable information among others.
In this project, my focus is on reducing the searching time for a library user in terms of
finding relevant books or paper through the techniques of mind mapping, interview
preparation, journey mapping, brainstorming and prototyping.

Idea Generation Methods and Techniques
Mind mapping
I have learnt that mind mapping enhances the clarity regarding connections of the
main ideas through graphical representations. Usage of colours for the subdivisions has
enhanced my understanding about the related concepts. Mind mapping has assisted me in
systematizing my thought process. The major drive behind this is the visual clarity (Easterby-
Smith & Cunliffe, 2017). I also came to know that mind mapping improves the observation
power of the individuals, helping them to integrate, generate and identify the appropriate
information. This integration, is further assistance, in terms of discussing the gathered
information and discovering new ideas.
Interview preparation
In the project, I conducted a semi-structured interview and the members of the other
team took notes of the responses. Here, we made use of tools like audio and video recorders

mental model, secondary task engagement, vigilance decline and usage.
Journey mapping
I learnt that journey mapping is a useful tool in gaining understanding about the
critical junctures of a project. I got to know that collaborative approach for preparing
graphical methodology improves the decision-making process. Specifically, journey mapping
improved my learning regarding the journey of a product or a process from the beginning to
the end. Through research, I found that journey mapping technique has gained popularity in
private and public sector organizations in terms of bringing innovation in the operations.
Brainstorming
I got to know that discussions prove beneficial in terms of generating brainstorming
ideas about solving the issues. These discussions helped us in presenting our thoughts,
feelings and ideas. This presentation is done through two stages: idea purge and idea trigger.
In addition to this, I came to know about traditional brainstorming (TBS), Nominal
Brainstorming (NB) and Electronic brainstorming (EB).
Prototype
I got to know that prototyping is an advanced stage of brainstorming. Through rapid
prototyping, I could enhance my knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies regarding
design thinking. This technique broadened the scope and arena of my though process into
creativity and innovation.
