Q1 Why is it important to me as a tertiary learner to use credible sources
in my academic research and writing?
In the context of Australia tertiary learner is the one who at the age of 17 year old
are taking the education after the compulsory schooling. Tertiary learner is the learner
who is receiving the education at the 3rd stage, 3rd level and post secondary education.
They are also known as the researcher who is doing any research about the topic which is
been provided to him and is writing his or her own views regarding the topic (Tertiary.
2017). In this research work which need to be done should be obtained from some
credible sources. Where credible source is the relevant or authentic source of the authors'
idea it is the evidence and backed up paper in written (Choosing Credible Sources. 2017).
All the researcher who are doing the research work about any topic must be following the
relevant and authentic sources so that it could help others from where they have obtained
information.
So for a tertiary learner it is important to obtain or gain all the information which
he or she will be including in the research work to be credible or authentic. It is very
important to use the credible source in the writing or research work which is to be done
by any researcher. As then that writer will be held responsible if the source or the matter
which is written is not correct. This is also important to avoid plagiarism as I need to
quote words and ideas which are used by other authors. It will also be easy for the reader
to track down sources which I have used by citing them accurately in the paper.
Q2 Why is it or will it be important to me in my career to use credible
source in my professional research or writing?
In my career it will be important for me to use all the credible source in my
professional research and writing so that it is all authenticated. To evaluate the source for
credibility is also very important as the research is not at all faster or easy to be
conducted. It would be easy for me to relate to what I have written in my paper and to be

able to reach out to all the learners or readers. This would be giving me the evidence of
what I have written in the work and I have not written that on my own thought. The
strength of my academic and professional writing is greatly determined by the credibility
of the sources which I'm using to support my arguments and ideas in that writing. So
locating the relevant, authentic and reliable information in print or electronic formats is
just the first step in my research work. Then after this I need to find out the quality of the
information that I have found and to tell that who is the writer or of what view point he is
and are the sources all relevant or not. This adding up of credible sources in my work and
research projects will also avoid the act of plagiarism which is considered to as act of
stealing someone else written and giving it our name. The reader by reading my project
work can easily track down the sources which I have cited in my work in bibliography or
references list. It would be important for me to see that is the source which I'm using is
credible or not like if I'm using Wikipedia which is not at all a credible source so citing it
in my work would not be correct.
Q3 Comparing the relative merits of two sources about the same issue.
It is necessary for me to use the authenticated sources so that there are no
problems which are related to the paper work in the future. But it is first to see or identify
the correct sources like using Wikipedia my literature work as the source will not be
correct as it is not at all a credibility source. As Wikipedia there are many contributors in
the cite who normally are not experts in that field and not the reviewers as well. Like if
I'm doing a research work on the type of leadership style used by one particular
organisation and then collecting the matter from Wikipedia and then putting them in my
work and then citing them will not at all be good. Whereas if I'm using any journal article
or a book then that surely will be more credible than use of Wikipedia. As the book will
surely be written by some of the writer with authenticated name written on the book. This
use of books, journals and article will be more helpful in my career or professional
practice than use of Wikipedia s my source. As that book will be more certified by some
professional academic and then published this is also would be giving proper citation for

any claim it making that is supporting its arguments. This is of the idea that I can use my
primary source, research and supporting passages that the particular author has used in
his work. So if I'm doing my research work on the type of leadership style used by one
particular organisation and then collecting the matter I should be using the correct source
which is giving me more credible source than the other one. In this research I must not be
using Wikipedia for the sourcing as that could not be very correct, reliable, relevant and
authenticated source of my literature work.
