The presentation by students was a critical examination of the novel Fyodor Dostoevsky,
Crime and Punishment. This revolves around crimes scenes and ethical values the main character
seeks and follows. this novel is a classic hit of 1900 and has been an critically engraved novel. Its
actually a tragic story of Raskolnikov, who was a very special students who has very sensitive
philosophical mindset. This leads him to commit an murder, becoming guilty from his mistake
he keeps running around in streets of St. Petersburg. He was trying to escape every-suspicious
Porfiry who is the official investigation officer for his case. In this presentation it really was clear
and had given correct clarity about this novel(Rowe, 1972). Portraying the critical issues which
have had been for the correct evaluation in this presentation were properly given in this. The
presentation described individuals as ordinary and extraordinary. In which it says that some who
are ordinary live a very disciplined and simple life while following all rules & regulation which
are very important by government. The second half of individuals have rights and provisions to
kill people and overrule law. The main issues and facts were described it clarity where it was
easy to understand the fact that this novel is just like an ordinary murder mystery where someone
kills someone. The main point in this is that when any person seeks the plan to kill a person tin
this case the greedy old lady is killed because of her wrong intention of lending people money
but on very high rates. This creates issues in main characters brain and he leaves to her house to
full fill his deeds(Kohlberg, 1963).This punch line is when the old lady's innocent sister also
arrives at the house, in this situation to complete his deed Raskolnikov has to kill her too. This
leads his to torture himself and his mind reaches to some weird self torture zone. The most
remorse he got from this deed was to kill the innocent sweet & kind sister and which was making
him crazy. After watching this it was concluded that even if any person seeks to take revenge or
kill a wrong person, innocent people are always killed in this process. The verbal tone of taking
in this presentation was quite understandable and remember gist of story. It was very confusing
to understand Porfiriy properly he was looking like a very decent person and believed in main
character when even he was confused. He supported the fact that he should not waste his rest of
life left with this guild and try to move on from his past. All the other characters supporting this

novel were correctly presented, the end cannot be called love ending but a chance given by god
since his lover believed in Christ. The presentation leaves one to think about Raskolnikov
showed remorse & that he was on correct path to redemption. In end the presentation was quite
simple and self explanatory the path and description format was correct and connected to story.
Essay-2
The representation of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment in form of an
presentation was quite an thing to watch. It was full of pictures and details explanation about all
characters and main models in novel. The criteria on which things were systematically present &
include Oliver Readys narrates this story with brief introduction and explains a lot about Russia
& Dostoevsky(Burnham, 2002). The work revolves around a young guy who is living a very
degrading life in which his mother and sister live far away to struggle for creating a life for them.
The original novel was divided in 6 parts in which all have to be defined & described properly.
The concept of main character was explained correctly and cover all grounds in need terms. It
includes from the situations faced by them, later his deed to kill old lady who was a cruel, evil
and greedy person. This complex tale or crimes and punishment was really mind-blowing and
explanatory part done b students made it very to understand all key aspects of this book. The gist
understood from it was that main character had a whole plan to kill that old women but her sister
also came to the house and in the field of completing his deed, he had to kill her as well. This
lead him to self-destruction and gave him huge guilty trip. The thing that was most attractive was
the way Dostoevsky was helping him to not feel guilty and why common The presentation was
covering the story from all grounds and should conclude basic representing points which were
very critical and difficult to understand. Here, a split personality description is given where at
one point he blames himself and starts self-destruction. In this description by Raskolnikov he has
divided the world in two categories in which some are losers and some winners. He started
accumulating things on grounds of who is successful and who isn't. At some point of time he
tries to justify his murder by being superior in human community which was later made him
understood by other supportive characters. In the end it cannot be called a love ending but can be
concluded to be god's ending. The lover of Raskolnikov was a devotee of lord Christ and her
faith and spiritual beliefs always helped them to get out of such critical situation. The endings are
little confusing and contradicting in nature but could have had been justified more properly. The
presentation given by students had proper clarity but some parts were left with confusion. Some

points as to justify characters, pointing towards issues and giving justification helped a lot in
understandings concepts(Beyer Jr, 1982). The whole presentation addressed the issues and
should have had provided themes more briefly to give clarity in understanding issues more
better. Some points of pointing towards history and full description of substitute characters was
of no use and took unnecessary space while watching it. The critical revelation of this ppt can be
summarised in two words i.e. “short & simple”.
