INTRODUCTION
An action or any omission that comes under as an offence as well as punishable by law, is
termed as crime, which includes unlawful act, breach, violation and more concept. The present
essay is going to reveal out a case based on violent crime about a murder mystery (Walker and
Maddan, 2019). Therefore, to outline a criminology perspective, a number of multiple theories
like bio-criminology, psychological Positivism and more are used under the given case. To
describe the case and various laws that can be undertaken to resolve, evidences of real case with
Australian Bureau of Statistics are also explained.
MAIN BODY
To explain delinquency and crime, a number of criminological theories can be applied. It
includes Biological Theories of Crime, Criminal Justice, Cultural Transmission, Labelling
Theory and Symbolic Interaction, Psychological Theory and so on, which can be applied as per
basis of types of crime like property, violent, etc. These theories provides a foundational lens that
helps in interpreting and understanding the manifestation of human behaviour more easily.
Hereby, cases in which offender committed to do illegal or inhumane activities like murder, rape,
physically or mentally assault are taken as violent crimes. While crimes like burglary, theft,
vandalism, fraudulent activities, etc. are considered as property crimes (Proctor and Niemeyer,
2019). Therefore, to resolve the case in justified way, a number of Criminology Laws has been
made which includes Crimes Act 1914, Criminal Code Act 1995 and more.
Bureau statistics of Australia:
It has been analysed from the given statistical data that number of crime cases increased
more in case of property as compared to violent. Hereby, in violent case, more crimes are related
with assault that estimated as 64.3%. While, with 71.2% property case includes theft crime.

Present Crime:
Nesla, a women of 32 years old, found guilty to murder her five-year old daughter in May
2019. Through investigation, it has been determined that after separation with her husband, her
mental condition was not stable. Currently, she is pregnant with five-months of her boyfriend,
that creates a complications for the court to handle the case. Because as per concerned with baby,
it is essential for her to live with mother, but concerning on mental condition of victim, there is a
high threat for baby also to being killed by her mother.
When examining the psychological theory of crime, it has been analysed that the
circumstances or negative atmosphere under which a person lives, acts as the main factor that
turns them as criminal. To understand how such theory can be explained another case is taken,
where a person named by Daniel Holdom has murdered his girlfriend and her two-year daughter
(The “Girl In A Suitcase” Killer Will Spend The Rest Of His Life In Prison, 2018). The body of
both of them were found after five years in a suitcase on a rural highway in South Australia.
After found guilty, with extreme gravity and appalling depravity, the court has sentenced the
victim two terms of life imprisonment. Thus, resembling the both cases where both victims have

murdered a baby, the question arise here 'if same judgement can be taken for present case also,
where victim is pregnant but charged for killing her previous babies also”. Therefore, applying
the bio-criminology and psychological theories, it has been analysed that in both cases, mental
state of both victims were not stable during crime. But in case of Nesla, as she has faced the
domestic violence during married life and after separation also feels more pressurised to care
children as a single mother. So, concerning on her mental ability and pregnancy, judges need to
take advice of psychologist for taking action and accused for murder (Wells and Walsh, 2019).
While in another murder case Daniel Holdom, his mental condition shows his extent of criminal
behaviour that reflects to conduct future crime also. So, steps to taken to imprisonment him till
life seems to be better.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from this essay that each case under Australian Law, Courts and
Jurisdiction Committee, apply a number of criminological theories. This would help in
conducting an in-depth analysis to analyse why certain crime has happened and how actions
taken against victim affects him/her or associated people. After analysing whole case, they take
proper and justified actions.
