Introduction
The purpose of the study is about analyzing the article that is related with the tourism
sector of Oman. The study evaluates the journal article based on the parameters of the
implications of the study and the impact of the research on tourism sector as well as the
employment of the citizens of Oman. The article considered is ‘Sea turtle tourism in Oman:
Current status and future prospects’ that is related to the sector of the tourism in Oman. The
evaluation of the study is structured in such a way that starts with the overview of the article
then evaluates the article based on the research conducted. This study states the implications
on the present market related to the Omani tourism market based on the findings from the
analysis.
Overview of the Article
The article focuses on the aspects related to the present status of the tourism based on
the natural attractions in Oman and the future potential of the sea turtle tourism. The study
has particularly focused on the sea turtles in the Ras Al Hadd. The study has determined
factors such as the spending patterns, arrival rate of the tourists. The authors have enlightened
about the growth in the competition of sea tourism as there has been a significant
improvement in trends in inbound of the tourists. The authors also have done an integrated
analysis of the tourism platform that is based on the secondary data which has indicated about
the potential economical contribution of the sector considering the favorable policies of the
government. The authors have suggested considering the analysis about the importance of the
recognizing the uniqueness of the concept of sea turtle tourism as it can help in developing

about the study. The journal article does provides the insights of the discussion but does not
includes the type of the data and the methodology that is being used. The abstract has stated
about analyzing the various literatures based on which, internal as well as the external
analysis of the sector has been performed. Though the abstract is stating the about the key
findings it does not reflects the limitations.
The article starts by providing the present scenarios of the tourism market of the
country. The part of introduction is involved in the briefing about the scope of the tourism
and states about the importance of the policies that influences the tourism sector. The authors
in the introduction has stated about the various perspectives that influences the tourism sector
but does not consider the different ecological aspects which can be influenced by the growth
of the tourism in the country. The clear and concise brief of the study and by providing the
aspects of the tourism sector in Oman, the article has been involved in building up the study
and encouraging to read further. The introduction clearly states about the need for the
study by recognizing the gap in the past researches related to the tourism of the Oman. The
article does not segregate the part of reviewing the past literature which has impacted the
introduction and made the introduction cramped.
The discussion of the article does not contains a specific section that is related to the
review of the past literature. But the authors have reviewed the literature, which is stated in

the introduction does provides a platform for the study to be conducted. There has not been
any specific section for the literature review but the study contains a detailed framework to
develop the context. This section involves two parts which is stating about the factors such

influencing the sector of tourism in Oman. The second part of the study is emphasizing about
the importance of the tourism that is involving the conservation of the natural resources. This
part provides a detailed framework to support the study that is concerning about providing the
logical objectives to the study. The consolidation of these two part has emphasized on the
providing the external factors that is later used to perform the integrated analysis.
The methodologies adopted by the author, which is being used in the journal article
to evaluate and analyze the information only includes data from the secondary sources. This
is one of the big flaws of the conducted studies that is being performed. The usage of the
primary data does provides a credibility to the study. The collection of the data from the
secondary sources does have a positive effect as it is consisting of the data from the credible
sources that is relevant to the sector. The collected data is used to perform the integrated
analysis of the sector which is consisting of the socio-ecological factors that influences the
tourism sector. The validity of the results are mostly applicable for the external factors.
The contribution of the article is subjective as authors have stated about the
findings from the study which is considering the factors related to the external environment.
The authors has enlightened the areas such as the legislation and the supportive public
facilities that can help in the growth of the tourism sector in Oman. However,
accommodation is one of the important part for the tourism in Oman. One of the research
states about the industries that have impacted the tourism of the country which includes the
hotel industry (Amar Oukil, Nabil Channouf and Asma Al-Zaidi 2016). According to the
authors the growth of the tourism industry has to be supported by the hotel industry which

needs to be improved in order to accommodate the tourists with the better accommodation.
There has been significant growth as it is in stage of growth but this growth has to be
supported growth of the industries that is associated with it by promoting the
entrepreneurship of the individuals with relating to the tourism industry (Khan and
Krishnamurthy 2016). The journal article states about the growth in the inbound tourists
which is leading to the growth of the tourism sector along with sea turtle tourism (Busaidi et
al. 2018). The journal article did not involve any concern saving the diversity of the other
species which is one of the key factor that is associated with the ecological balance of the
environment. One of the key factors that can influence the growth of the Omani tourism
sector is technological advancements to facilitate the tourists (Pauceanu 2014).
The study have stated role of promotions has been a key factor in influencing the
tourism sector such as promotional campaigns (Busaidi et al. 2018). However, study could
have considered the other promotional platforms such as the social media. According to the
authors Al-Badi, Tarhini and Al-Sawaei (2017) social media is good and trending platform
that is having a big user base that can influence the tourism sector. The study has value added
in terms of enlightening the area of government policies that is important part of the tourism
sector of Oman. The study have not particularly mentioned about the consumer behaviour of
the tourist in the tourism market
The gaps however comes in form of the data collection as it is only considering the
data from the secondary sources which has been taken from the internet. Though the study
did not mentioned about the limitations separately, still it has been included in the
conclusion section. The study has stayed away from stating any future scope but it does
have its own importance about stating the several factors related to the infrastructure and the
policies that government of the Oman can develop to support the growth.

Implication
The practical implications for the study have only considered the factors that is
associated with the policy making that can influence the tourism sector of the country.
Though the study did not stated about the other factors that is to be considered to support the
growth of the tourism in the country, the study has been convincing enough by stating the
needs of the government support. However, sea turtle tourism is one of the most influential
part for the tourism industry in Oman. This article implies about the importance of the sea
turtle tourism and growth of the tourism that is associated with it.
Conclusion
To summarize the study it can be stated that the study has been an important part in
stating about the fact related to the policy making. The study has been focusing on only the
policy but did not considered the other marketing aspects such as the social media. The study
also avoided the fact associated with environmental sustainability. However, the study has
enlightened about the aspects of the growth and policies that has to be implemented by the
government. There are other supportive studies that have stated about the marketing platform
and developing the infrastructes to support the improvement of the tourism sector along with
promoting entrepreneurship.
