Deakin University HSH7xx: Critical Appraisal of Health Research

This critical appraisal report evaluates two health practice articles, one quantitative and one qualitative, using CASP checklists and ethical guidelines. The first article assesses the competence of health service managers in evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) in Victorian hospitals, revealing varying competency levels and highlighting the need for improved EIDM implementation. The second article explores the health perspectives of urban indigenous children in Australia, using qualitative methods to understand their views on health and well-being, emphasizing the importance of nutrition, physical activity, relationships, and cultural identity. Both studies adhere to ethical standards, contributing valuable insights to health research and practice. This report highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each study, providing a comprehensive analysis of their methodologies and findings.
