US Health Care System
Introduction
Health services delivery system or healthcare delivery is the act of providing patients with
healthcare services. Health is the state of being free form any illness, both physical and mental.
American belief and values include the advancement of science, championship of capitalism, a
spirit of entrepreneurship and self-determination, concern for the underprivileged, and a free
distrust and enterprise of the government (Obama, 2016).
Critique
The articles have very relevant content. They explain each concept in detail and have put effort
into defining most of the terms. There are four components of the health care delivery systems,
according to the article. The first component is financing which aims to pay for the health
services consumed; Second is insurance to protect the individual against a catastrophic risk; third
is the delivery or provider that delivers the health care services and receives payment and finally,
payment or reimbursement which determines the cost of a service. The healthcare delivery
system is comprised of system foundations, resources, process, outcomes, and outlooks. Each
component of the framework has a unique role to play.
The new knowledge about the primary characteristics of the American health care system can be
applied in various areas. This knowledge can be used to reduce the global budget by completely
eradicating a central government insurance agency. Infant mortality can be reduced by
eliminating partial access and ensuring every individual has health insurance. Most hospitals
have many payers, and billing is very cumbersome. The development of a single-payer system
can help to improve the U.S health care delivery system (Shi & Singh, 2014)

The health care provider needs to understand the changes that occur in the healthcare delivery
system to promote health and disease prevention. They should also take advantage of the new
opportunities in the market as an attempt to minimize any threats. Health care providers should
evaluate the need for training in their health care facilities. Also, understanding the impact of
new regulations developed will help promote health. A health care facility should know and
understand where their facility fits in the macro-environment to help them understand their roles
and responsibility in improving health care. Finally, to promote health and disease prevention,
the healthcare provider should be proactive with changes in insurance, deliver and
reimbursement (Chambers, Feero & Khoury, 2016).
These chapters have altered my thoughts about public health and their significance for
policymakers and healthcare providers. The healthcare delivery framework needs to evaluate its
structure and develop strategies to increase the number of individuals who can access health care
and make the services provided affordable to everyone. Also, having health insurance is very
important; anyone fund without insurance should pay a fine. These insurance companies should
also include coverage to a variety of medical services at no extra cost, for example, preventive
services.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the articles and chapters read contain relevant information about the US health
care system and public health. They have outlined the details of the framework of the healthcare
delivery system. The articles are unbiased and have explained the negative and positive aspects
of health care delivery. These articles have influenced by thought on the health care delivery
system, and it is clear that a change is needed (Singh, 2015).
