CRITICAL REFLECTION ON PECHA KUCHA
Role I have played:
In this project, the I played the role of a business leader who has to design Corporate
Social Responsibility strategies for the company. Hence this Pecha Kucha presentation
throws lights on all the aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility.
This Pecha Kucha presentation is a team effort. As a leader of the team I
communicated my ideas related to corporate Social responsibility. Representing the
definition, cause as well as impact of CSR activities through a Pecha Kucha presentation, was
a challenge to me. The presentation should be brief. All the contents should fit within 20
slides. Every slide should contain one picture, relevant to the core topic. In other words, all
the 20 slides required to contain 20 different pictures related to the message that the presenter
was trying to communicate. The presenter should narrate a script that which would talk about
the message indicated by each of the pictures, in each slide. The narration should be apt,
informative and concrete. Another challenge which I have faced during Pecha Kucha
presentation was time management, as the description of every slide in Pecha Kucha
presentation should be completed within 20 seconds. Hence, following the basic rules of
Pecha Kucha, I had to complete the whole presentation within 6 minutes 40 seconds.
What did I communicate?
My learning in the Kaplan Business School Australia helped me a lot to communicate
my ideas about Corporate Social Responsibility as a leader of a hypothetical company.
Kaplan Business School Australia has guided me all through my project and helped me to
represent whatever I have learnt about Corporate Social Responsibility. Our course at Kaplan
Business School has educated us about the philosophies that form the base for CSR of a
companythat the base of the Corporate Social responsibility is the philosophy-‘Make business
work for people and planet’. This philosophy behind Corporate Social responsibility has been

representedalong with the definition of CSR, which we have found in our academic lectures.
According to the academic literature-Corporate Social responsibility is a set of strategies
adopted by companies to carry on business activities and create overall positive influence on
the society simultaneously. Hence, the slides represented CSR as a business model regulated
by a company to remain socially accountable, especially to theirinternal as well as external
stakeholders. The challenge was that, I had to represent the definition causes as well as the
consequences of performing activities related to Corporate Social Responsibility, on the
behalf of a hypothetical company. Kaplan Business School Australia has taught us ’. Hence, I
have added pictorial evidences as the evidence for this business philosophy. This presentation
take into account, the economic, social as well as environmental aspects of Corporate Social
Responsibility and throw lights on the impact of CSR on these aspects.
This presentation also shows how CSR activities highlights the image of a company
and satisfy internal as well as external stakeholders, stockholders and shareholders. Further
the slides focus on the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility on customers as well as
shareholders . Other factors included in the Pecha Kucha presentation are:
Recruitment
Improvement of reputation for a business.
Satisfaction to the customer
Respondents Demographics – Levels of Designation
Employees Perception about CSR
Ethics and morals
Overall impacts on society.
What did I learn?

Team work
Collaboration and cooperation with team.

Patience, understanding
Good communication skill
How to face challenges
Managing risks
Solve problems of coordination among the team
Motivate the team to work hard
Tricks to achieve the overall as well as individual goals
How did I overcome the challenges I faced?
The challenges faced while carrying on the project and how I overcome them
Undefined Goals-As the goal for the project was not defined initially, this contributed
to the lack of strategic planning for the project. This again, in turn, delayed the
project.
The change of scope-at the time of the completing the project, I realised that, there
were a substantial difference in the theoretical as well as practical scopes, this created
obstacles in the completion of the project initially, later I overcome them with the
help of a drastic change in the planning.
Inadequate Skills for the Project-It was a team work. Hence there were people who
were unaware of the skills required for Pecha Kucha presentation. This created
obstacles in the acceleration of the project which was later overcome by me, as I
trained those who were novice.

CRITICAL REFLECTION ON PECHA KUCHA
Lack of Accountability- Lack of accountability on the part of some team members
often delayed works related to the project. Gradually I pointed out this problem and
took effective steps to evoke accountability among them.
Improper Risk Management- It is true that, most of us are novice. Before undertaking
this project most of us were unaware of the tricks to manage risks while carrying on a
project. Through the several risks faced by us during Pecha Kucha presentation all of
us gained enough knowledge of risk management.
Ambiguous Contingency Plans- Ambiguity and Contingency in the plan occurred due
to the undefined goals, during the initial phase of undertaking this project. Later the
objective of the project was discussed among the team members. This discussion
cleared all the ambiguities in the objectives and planning as well.
Poor Communication- Initially, due to the lack of professional approach of
communication among some of the team members, proper plans were not formulated
the execution of the project was delayed. Later, I was able to guide the members of
my team to communicate well with each other, by educating them about the
importance of good communication. I also elaborated to them the difference between
good and bad communication and the consequences of bad communication. Thus I
overcome the barrier of poor communication.
Impossible Deadlines-It is true that, there were several factors ;like- poor
communication as well as risk management, lack of accountability, ambiguity in the
planning, undefined goals, delayed the project. Hence, the team face a major shock
when they realised that the deadline is approaching and a lot of work was left. Many
of the members found that meeting deadline was impossible, but my guidance
constant motivation and agility to solve problem influenced the team to work hard and
meet the deadline.

Resource Deprivation- Other challenges faced by me and the team as well, was the
deprivation of resources like-lack of software, internet connection for acceleration of
the project. Initially lack of resources seemed one of the greatestproblems which was
creating a lot of interruption in the completion of the project., but later we conveyed
our problem to our professors and technical experts at Kaplan Business School, and
they solved our problems.
Individual strengths that became apparent in this process are:
Prudency in designing plan for the Pecha Kucha presentation.
Technical know-how for the presentation.
Management of timeto complete the project within the stipulated time.
Encouraging the team to put their best effortstocompletethe Pecha Kucha
presentation.
Individual weakness that became apparent in this process are:
Faulty risk managementstrategies for the presentation
Lack of effective communication skill for execuring the Pecha Kucha presentation
successfully.
Strengths exhibited by the team:
Determination for achieving the individual as well as the group target.
Cooperationas well as coordination to manage risks related to the project and
complete the whole project within time.
Maintenance of unity, specially when the project is delayed because of any
communication gap of strategical failure.

CRITICAL REFLECTION ON PECHA KUCHA
Hard work for overcoming all challenges, learning the techniques to represent a Pecha
Kucha presentation perfectly.
Good understanding of the individual strengths as well as weaknesses which led to the
perfect distribution of the work. For example, if a member ‘A’ is good at research
work then the responsibility of research was given to ‘A’ only. Hence everybody has
played the role in which he or she is specialized. This ensured perfection in executing
the presentation successfully.
Weaknesses exhibited by the team:
lack of systematic approach
Lack of accountability
Lack of professional communication
Lack of skills to solve internal problems
In the conclusion, it can be said that, this Pecha Kucha presentation was a team work that
helped me a lot to enhance my technical skills, to present information through pictures and
apt narration. This project also helped me to learn time management skills. I learnt to be more
confident to overcome challenges. Another thing which all of us learnt, was the good
understanding of everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. This helped in the perfect division of
responsibilities. At the end of the project I realized that this project has made me patient
calm, understanding, prudent and prompt enough to solve probems.
