Description & feelings
The main drawbacks of the assignment are the failure to understand the formatting requirements,
the lack of clarity in the sentences and the dearth of sufficient number of references and citations
at the required places. These problems can be solved if more attention if paid to the presentation
of the academic writing, oral reading and evaluation of the work after its completion.
Evaluation
Positive: The examiner’s comments are positive in case of the conclusion. There are some good
comments in the assignment which have been appreciated but just lack the reference for it.
Negative: Besides the formatting and referencing issues, there are many personal judgments
made and opinions given. These are big errors in academic writing. No comment should be made
without backing it up with strong citations and references from books, articles or journals
(Kotamjani, Samad & Fahimirad, 2018).
Analysis & Conclusion
The lack of proper formatting is one of the main problems in the assignment. This can be
improved by reading many good academic papers so that formatting styles can be learnt and
adapted in own writing. Moreover the references are not sufficient and very strong comments or
judgments have been made without backing them up with required citations (Tso & Ho, 2016).
This problem can also be solved by reading many scholarly articles. The pattern of writing will
be enhanced by reading and practicing better writing. The clarity of sentences is another
drawback of the assignment. This can be for two reasons; one is the lack of in-depth knowledge
about the subject matter and the other is lack of academic writing skills. These can be improved
by reading the texts on nursing and medication. The knowledge of the subject helps in framing
proper sentences which convey clear ideas. Practicing more writing exercises will also help to
construct better sentences (Kornhaber, Cross, Betihavas & Bridgman, 2016). The mentor’s
guidance can help the improvement in the academic writing. The ambiance in which a person
stays also impacts the mindset of a person which in turn affects the writing of the person. Thus
creating a positive mindset and having the urge to acquire much knowledge is very useful for
producing better assignments. It is very important to follow the writing instructions given by

mentor. The feedback from the mentor should be used for improving the standard of work in
future. Further editing and proofreading before submission of assignment is important. For
instance, the American spellings could be avoided if proof reading is done.
Action Plan
The major drawbacks in the academic writing are that there are spelling errors, faulty sentence
framing, and lack of referencing and strong comments without scholarly citations. These can be
improved by enhancing academic knowledge, understanding the objective of the writing,
increase oral reading, etc. (Wallace & Wray, 2016). Academic writing can be improved and the
common errors can be avoided if one reads good articles, goes through peer reviewed papers,
along with practicing academic writing (Milad, 2017). The pre-requisite for academic writing is
academic knowledge so building the knowledge in the field of study is very important. Thus the
base of academic writing is reading and gaining as much knowledge as possible. The rest of the
flaws can be avoided if one pays more attention towards enhancing the quality of paper through
editing after completion of the work.
