INTRODUCTION
Social work can be referred to as the work carried out by trained person with the intention to
resolve the various issues faced by people in the society.
The report is all about the view of author about the importance of social work. All the
information related to the topic has been gathered from the book name Critical social work and
the politics of transformation which has been published by Stephen .A Web.
MAIN BODY
1. Significance suggested by author in context of social movement
According to the view of Stephen,20019, the social movement is crucial for promoting
the social justice. The author has also states that social movement is important for eliminating the
inequalities among people. As p[er the opinion of author social movements are crucial for
bringing positive change in the society.
2. Description of social movement and objective of the same
I have participated in social movements related to Advocacy as well as activism. The
main of the particular social movement was to enable all social workers to interlink or integrate
their practices with purpose of social Justice (Morley, Albett & Macfarlane,2019). As per the
code of ethics social worker has applied the principle of social justice for resolving the structural
issues in the social services agencies.
3. History of social work
The concept of social work emerged during 1970. Main idea behind social work is
activities as well as commitment that has emerged through political instance. There has been
development of social work with the purpose of alleviating the harmful effect on people living in
dominating capitalist society.
4. Big C theory
Critical social work has been originated from radical social work. According to the Big C
theory, critical social work is basically a wide number of activities which is conducted by trained

person for solving the issues faced by people in the society. It can also be defined as working
with others for bringing big transformation in the society.
5. Critically theories of the Frankfurt school.
According to the Frankfurt school there are basically two theories these are sociological as well
as philosophical theory. From perceptive of Frankfurt school there is difference between
traditional social work approaches as well as critical theory (Webb, 2019). The hypothesis
emerged from the Frankfurt school is based on assumption that traditional social work approach
basically consists of values. As per the hypothesis, critical theory mainly emphasizes on bringing
big transformation in the society.
6. Summary of Marxism
It is basically a social movement related to the feminism as well as postmodernism. The
main aim of this movement is to promote social justice and protect the rights of women.
7. Reason for suspicious of claim of objectivity.
The big reason for the claim of objectivity is to bring big as well as positive change in
politics as well as society

Global capitalism is new term which basically means a free market system where the
main intention of companies is to earn high profit.
9. Contradiction about Welfare state
The contract diction related to the welfare state is that some authors perceives that
Welfare state contributes to the economic crisis as well as undermines incentives. However , it
has been argued by other authors that without Welfare state development of political strategy is
not possible.
10. Highlighting two things that has been found helpful in reading about critical social work
The two things which has been learned is importance of social work and the challenges
which can occur in achieving the social objectives. Development of importance will help in
promotion of social work, . Challenges identified will help in formulation of an effective plan
related to the social work.

CONCLUSION
It has been concluded that crucial social work is very much crucial for bringing positive
changes in the society as well as political system. The other fact which has been discovered is
that social work is helpful in relation to alleviating the issues faced by society.
