AI Summary
This report delves into the critical elements of computer software security, focusing on availability, confidentiality, and integrity. Availability ensures authorized access, confidentiality protects data from unauthorized access, and integrity maintains data accuracy and trustworthiness. The report highlights the importance of these elements, especially in the context of modern cybersecurity threats. Cryptography plays a crucial role in maintaining data integrity, with hashing being a common method for verifying data authenticity. The report concludes that the critical elements of computer software security are essential for protecting data and systems from various threats. The report also references key literature, including works by Goodrich & Tamassia (2018), Gupta, Agrawal & Yamaguchi (2016), and Li, Meng & Kwok (2016), providing a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

“Critical elements of Computer Software Security”
It is investigated that there are various critical elements that are related to computer
software security. The first element is concerned with availability and it is considered as one of
the major element that helps in accessing the information. This is the critical element that assists
in ensuring that the needed data is accessed by the parties who are authorized. In the present era,
denying access to the information is one of the common attacks, so the element related to
availability plays a significant role in securing the data (Li, Meng & Kwok, 2016).
Confidentiality is the next element in relation to computer software security. It refers to
securing the data from being accessed by the parties that are not authorized. There is a
requirement of maintaining the confidentiality of the data from the other third parties who have
main aim of giving the authority to the unauthorized users (Goodrich & Tamassia, 2018). The
last element is integrity in which the focus is given on accuracy, consistency and also on
trustworthiness of the information. Integrity also has the two essential sub elements such as data
integrity and authentication. It is analyzed that Cryptography has important role in ensuring the
integrity of the data. The common way to secure the data integrity is hashing in which the
comparison is made with the data received and hash original message (Gupta, Agrawal &
Yamaguchi, 2016). So, it can be concluded that the critical elements of computer software
security are availability, confidentiality and integrity.
