This annotated bibliography presents a critical review of six research papers and the Rio Tinto 2017 sustainability development report. The review encompasses various aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental disclosures. The selected papers examine topics such as the social and environmental disclosures of BHP Limited, corporate accountability in disaster situations, the need to legislate corporate social responsibilities, environmental incidents in developing countries, and environmentally sustainable mining practices. Each paper is summarized, and its strengths and weaknesses are evaluated. The Rio Tinto report is analyzed for its CSR perspectives, strategies for community engagement, and environmental sustainability initiatives, as well as its alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative and the International Council on Mining and Metals standards. The analysis provides a comprehensive overview of sustainability reporting and its implications for business development and environmental management.
