INTRODUCTION
Critical thinking is defined as an intellectual process that includes discipline in the
procedure of conceptualizing, analysing, applying, synthesizing and examining the presented
information which is collected from distinct sources such as observing, reading, experiencing,
reasoning and communicating. It is related with professional skills which is necessary to acquire
in order to get employment opportunities in well reputed organisations. Critical thinking skills
plays an important role in individual’s life at personal and professional level. The present report
discusses the same with referencing to a case study.
MAIN BODY
Purposes of applying critical thinking to the case study.
Critical thinking this is considered to be that kind of ability that has been making
enabling and developing clear picture of what is being used or observed by them with
appropriate rational. The critical thinking ability is the skill that has been rendered within an
individual which makes performing over expressing interpretations with opinion on various
topics that has been discussed and evaluated also. There are different kinds of benefits that has
been expressing opinions over various topics that is been discussed. Various benefits are there
that has been offered by making critical thinking skills to enabling to develop a logical
connection in between ideas, providing solutions over various kinds of problems that has been
faced. In connection to this separate idea has been effected with rational thinking and other.
The notion behind gaining critical thinking skills is related to with having more
systematic approaches to process information and then presenting their opinions. Persons with
good memory and factual information can become a critical thinker but it is not compulsory that
they are critical thinkers. A critical thinker has a good and proportionate idea about what needs
to be done for making or bringing the best solution for certain problems or how they can lead the
way to effectual resolutions (Stephenson and Sadler-McKnight, 2016). Main motive of
developing potential purpose over critical thinking and ability over ensuring value of individual
that is used for making reflection while judgements is formed. Also subjecting them in
appropriate way possible with no longer benefits with success. Other aspect that is there for the
purpose of developing critical thinking that is required to be justified which allows and
individual develop its own separate identity that personalizes personality of it. These kind of

critical thinking skills has been enabled over persons which has to be stated over groups and stay
apart form the beginning an echo is required to be developed between the persons which makes
acceptance with various options and values. This has been neglecting personal believes,
ideologies and various important skills or set of skills. This has also helped in making a critical
thinking skills to be formed and comparatively develop cumulative role with various aspects to
be covered. Under this fundamental ability has been developed that has been hiding in the
background. All this most often but plays a active role in making the person most productive and
potential with their own ideas, notions and thinking aspects. It is unique within itself and both
offer and value is there to provide facts with effectually recognizing this. As well as, another
important purpose served by the notion is of developing a economic value and backing up point
views with asserted and proven facts (Setiawan, and et. al., 2018).
Demonstrate an understanding of critical thinking skills by examining claims, assertions and
statements made in the given case study.
The first statement that is describe in case study is that political leaders and experts think
about basic income that is to be the solution to a lot of difficulty and problem in social group. As
a country we are in trouble'' this is an assertion made by democrats as well as by politicians of
United Kingdom once the country struck by the coronavirus pandemic. The politician says that
the down falling economy due to COVID 19 and it affects long term. For creating solutions for
different problem of the society and the population of UK the Universal Basic income is
suggested and though it create effective as well as efficient resolution temporarily (Asyari, Al
Muhdhar and Susilo, 2016).
As per case study articles'' yesterday it was revealed that in Wales aerospace industry
face around 8000 job losses that never recovers fully. Due to COVID 19 many challenges are
face by the company that was not gone away. Increased working, climatic change, mental health
issues claim made on the basis of resources and factual information. This claim was made for
showcasing support in favour over the solution of Universal basic income used for increasing the
standard of society as it seems that UK economy is suffer from long duration before the outbreak
of COVID 19 in all over the world (Bustami, Syafruddin and Afriani, 2018).
The next claim that is showcased in the case study is “Finland” has proclaimed the results
of its two years’ study of universal basic income where around 2000 persons were fired as they
are between 25 to 57 years of age. This represent the information and factual data on which

claim is developed as the outcome was presented by the government with their study of two
years. And due to allowance their happiness being enjoyed under Universal Basic income. The
government also state that public indulge more into their work and perform better function in the
operations (Cottrell, 2017).
In the project statement is also presented by experts of economic and finance manager''
Milton Ezrati make focus that it would buy resource from those who needed it. Provisional
trouble are also face by some people. This statement presented for increasing concern for misuse
of the scheme of universal basic income. In the form of statement critical thinking abilities are
use by economist. The concern raises for those who actually get the benefit of the scheme and
other exploit it for personal benefit. From the government resource the cost of the plan will
wholly deduct and the statement was made for making some restrictions and regulations and give
the maximum benefit to those who requires it. Different statements, claims and assertion is
developing is given in this case study as these are demonstrate by number of economist,
professional and politician. With thing skills and related aspect pinion must be present in
respective manner by doing negotiation of UBI or in against it (Duran and Dökme2016),
Evaluate the ideas expressed in the case study and develop valid arguments based on your
understanding of the topic.
In the case, the first claim evaluated and made was by the politicians which render
solutions for the suffering and decreasing economy together with its impact on the society. A
study was done two years back on which this claim is based which stated the claims and
concerns of the politicians and government which offered UBI for those people who have
suffered due to unemployment and job losses in the economy (El Soufi and See, 2019). The
claim was again supported by the other claim “Only twenty-four-hour period it was discovered
that the regional industry in Wales was facing up to 8,000 occupation losing from which it could
never fully retrieve. However, there were situation of difficulties facing our social group long
before Covid-19 sent us all inside which have not absented” another article of BBC has
supported this claim which stated that unemployment was decreased in April and June by 207%
than in January and March rate which provided that 8000 people have lost their jobs.
(Unemployment: Wales jobs not yet hit by Covid lockdown, 2020). Thus the claims from
politicians and government became evident which are for long term and will continue for many

years than expected so it will be difficult to revive the economy as well (Gholami and et. al.,
2016).
Another claim established in case study includes “The study found people were happier,
had greater trust in others and higher levels of confidence in the future. They also worked
slightly more than those on unemployment benefits and reported better cognitive functioning. It
also didn’t find a significant reduction in employment - people still wanted to work” (Universal
Basic Income: the scheme where the Government would give you free money every month, 2020)
again this claim was supported with another survey report which showed the result of income
experiment and respondents said that they have positive impact on their mental health.
With lowering of depression, sadden, stress, strain and loneliness feelings, people were
satisfied and happy from their new living. From this survey another statement given by Milton
Ezrati, an economist raised the concerns for unethical practices and misusing of resources which
was followed by people in order to exploit the UBI pay was also wrongly stated (Hudha and
Batlolona, 2017).
The survey which was conducted clearly showed the best use of the UBI which were
made as people were satisfied and happy and gave positive respond. They had better mental
health due to less feeling of depression and loneliness which increased their will to work well
with abilities for learning, memory and ability and helped them in concentrating in their jobs and
all other aspects.
As per the survey, The respondent also said, “the responder who accepted a basic income
had a more constructive representation of their income and economic wellbeing than the control
unit” (Results of Finland's basic income experiment: small employment effects, better perceived
economic security and mental well-being, 2020). From the view of Minna Ylikanno, the
respondents felt and said that they feel safe by their financial situation which is now managed
properly and have a feeling of financial protection (Mabruroh, and Suhandi, 2017).
So after evaluating and examining the statements and claims given in case study which
related to UBI and its effect on society and development of economy for longer time, the
resources have showed favourableness for its notions. From articles and survey it has been
showed the impact on society and mental health of the people is positive.

reasoning power and abilities to be held by the individuals for development of their personalities
and for making their place in the society by standing outside with their separated opinions. In
order to make analysis of critical thinking skills a case study is used for showcasing the ability to
make differences and evaluation in knowing the claims, assertions and statements.
It can be concluded from the above report that effectiveness and importance
