Introduction
In this study, the concept of leadership style will be discussed and for better understanding, two
journal papers related to the research topic will be reviewed. The title of the first paper is
"Reviewing Leadership Styles: Overlaps and the Need for a New ‘Full-Range’ Theory” and
other is “The Styles of Leadership: A Critical Review”. Moreover, comparison sections will be
included in order to compare the results and findings of both selected papers.
Review of Article 1
The title of the paper is "Reviewing Leadership Styles: Overlaps and the Need for a New Full-
Range” that was written by Marc and Peter in the year 2017 and it is based on the chosen topic of
the research. In this paper, the authors critically reviewed the key concepts behind leadership
styles and different types of theories used in the leadership (Anderson, and Sun, 2017). The aim
of this paper is to elaborate on different types of leadership styles used in the organizations and
their importance in managing problems in the workplace. According to the researchers,
leadership style positively impacts on the organizational performance and also helps employees
to control and manage their behavior in the workplace. In order to understand the importance of
leadership style, the researchers conducted a literature review that helped them for obtaining
reliable information about the research topic.
In this research paper, the authors reviewed various kinds of leadership styles, for example,
authentic leadership, pragmatic, ethical, ideological and so on. According to the authors, the
dominant conceptualization of the leadership style in the organization is the charismatic style

Review of Article 2
The title of the selected paper is "the Styles of Leadership: A Critical Review” which was written
by Muhammad, Irfanullah and Qamar in the year 2015 and it is based on the leadership style.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of leadership style on the performance of the
organization and evaluate different kinds of leadership styles (Khan, et al., 2015). According to
the writers, leadership is a key part of the organizations that provide a way for improving the
performance of employees in the workplace. The social contract of leadership is seen as a myth
that manages more complex situations in an effective manner. In this paper, the researchers
identified the key aspects of leadership style and reviewed the concept behind leadership style. It
is observed that authoritarian is an effective type of leadership that can be used in the workplace
in order to manage situations and develop effective decision-making strategies. A recent study
identified that democratic leadership has the ability to develop large quality work for a long time
and many employees suggested this leadership style to improving their effectiveness in the
workplace. In order to understand the key aspects of the research topic, the researchers included
the opinions of other researchers and also highlighted the advantages and limitations of each
leadership style.
Comparison between selected papers
After reviewing the first research paper, it is observed that there are numerous types of
methodologies used by the authors such as qualitative design, content analysis technique and so
on. But in the second research paper the authors secondary data collection method, qualitative
design, inductive type of research approach, content analysis technique and so on. From the first
paper, it is suggested that concerted empirical efforts are required in order to find an effective
leadership style that controls and handle problems in the companies and improve the
performance of employees. From the second paper, it is observed that the author critically
reviewed each8 and every point of leadership style and also highlighted a theoretical framework
in order to understand the concept of leadership style.

this paper, for example, did not conduct a literature review, provided less information about the
impact of leadership on organizational performance, did not include any comparison table and
adopted only theoretical information related to the research topic. All these drawbacks reduced
by the first article but provided less information about the advantages of leadership styles.
Therefore, in future research, the author will improve the quality of the research and provided
information about the impact of leadership style on the performance of organizations.
