Introduction
The Culture is an integral part of the human society which consists of the language and
other Lifestyle habits of the society. People within the same culture their areas related to customs
and social behavior. The domain of the culture emphasizes on the social profile that is aimed to
improve the level of intellectual attitude among the people of the community.
The aim of this assignment is to provide a reflective journal on the experience and knowledge
that I have gained from my Education degree course. The various relevant factors related to
Culture and communication is highlighted within this assignment. The reflection will be made
from various peer-reviewed articles, which was a part of my assignment.
In the current era of globalization, it is essential to maintain cultural diversity in order to
work across various communities. The reflective journal will highlight upon the various aspects
of cross cultural communication, which is essential in order to deal with global business across
various nations.
I belong from the Sydney region of Australia and have been able to learn most of the
languages related to the aboriginal communities in the nation. During the time of my visit in the
Asian region, I have been able to learn the language of Hindi and Chinese, which has helped me,
enhance my understanding related to cultural diversity and language. The intercultural
experience that I have in the Asian countries, enhanced my level of awareness related to cultural
diversity. I have been able to distinguish the difference between the cultural aspects of Australian
and Asian countries. In future, I would like to visit the Nations from the Europe and American
region in order to beta enhance my understanding related to cultural diversity. This will help me

to perform under different types of cultural environment of the future. The intercultural
experience that I have gained over this period of time will help me to understand the importance
of cultural knowledge that is needed in order to enhance the understandings of globalization.
Understanding the importance of definition of culture
Crawford et al., (2017), have defined culture as the element which is required to unite a
group of people having common lifestyle and practices. The complexity of diversity in the
current day makes it essential for people to understand the importance of cultural diversity and
properly define the same in order to deal with the effect of globalization. There are various
components of cultural diversity which includes Geographic and demographic elements. I think
it is important to understand the Geographic and demographic perspective of a society in order to
better understand the importance of their culture.
According to the paper of Puente (2014), it is essential to ensure cultural representatives
across different communities, who will be in charge of defining the concepts related to each and
every culture within the globe.
I think it is effective to differentiate the culture across various layouts, which will be
helpful for the cultural experts to understand the importance of each and every community within
the globe. This is also essential in order to understand the exact value and importance of each
cultural perspective.
The politics of a region also has a major influence in order to define the cultural
elements. It can be said in the context that, the instability of a nation has special effect on the
cultural changes that are implemented by the society. On the other hand, the nation which is
politically stable has a better scope of improving upon their cultural diversity (Martin &

Nakayama, 2015). Hence, I believe from this perspective that most of the cultural diverse
Nations have a stable political background, which is essential in the perspective of improving the
business conditions of the nation and thereby encourage the path of globalization. The politicians
also play an important part in order to improve upon the cultural diversity of a nation. I believe
this can be obtained by raising the level of cultural awareness among the elite political Society of
a nation.
It is also important to understand the different levels within a culture, which is essential
in cases related to implementing the same across different organizations. The cultural diversity
can thereby play a significant role in the economic development of a nation. There is also the
perspective of corporate culture, which is essential in the matter related to improving upon the
business condition of a nation. I think the effectiveness and success of a business in a current era
of globalization is entirely dependent upon the policies that are implemented to deal with cultural
management.
Hence, I believe it is important to define the concept of culture that can vary depending
upon the situation and perspective of an organization of a nation.
Issues in the Cross Cultural Communication
Initially I would like to highlight up on the issues that I came to know about cross
cultural communication. It is important to note in the context that the issues related to cross
cultural communication is one of the major resistances for Global Business. There are several
cases that I have encountered in the program, from where I have been able to gain knowledge
about the issues and challenges encountered by multinational corporations while they are
implementing policies of Global Business. The difference in the level of understanding people of

various countries about the matters related to intercultural diversity is essential to deal with the
most of the cultural issues.
The lack of ability among people across various culture to deal with the change is that are
associated with cultural diversity is one of the major issues that are encountered in the given
context. There are also the issues related to the lack of awareness among the people across the
diverse groups of nation. There are also various ethical concerns of course communities in order
to accept inter cultural diversity (Mak et al., 2014).
I do strongly believe about the fact that most of the cultural concerns related to
communication are one of the major elements for globalization that can be implemented in the
business.
The article of Moran et al., (2014), have compared the Importance of cross cultural
values of Chinese and sub-Saharan Africans. It is important to mention that the African society is
made up of different types of culture along with ethnic groups and Indigenous tribes. One of the
fastest growing regions of the world belongs to the African community. Nevertheless, one of the
major issues that are encountered by the sub Saharan Africa is due to the fact that they are not
able to cooperate with the Chinese community and thereby not able to establish the business
relationship. Heterogeneous the nature of the African community is all also one of the major
issues that are encountered in the given context. It is important to allow the elements related to
cultural diversity in the human resource management of an organization. This can help to deal
with most of the complexities and performance issues.
From the above mentioned example of Chinese and sub Saharan community, I think it is
important to deal with the issues related to lack of understanding of cultural diversity. I also

believe about the fact that it is essential to spread the knowledge of diverse cultural among the
people of different communities in heterogeneous society, which will help to improve upon the
rate of globalization within the community. I also believe about the facts related to dissolving the
cultural barriers that is essential in the cases related to diversification of the global business.
I have also agreed upon the fact that high level of performance can be achieved with the help of
effective cultural diversity among the workers within an organization that is one of the essential
components of Global Business.
Components of Intercultural communication
Components related to please imperative, include factors related to difference sex
ethnicity and gender within the community. I believe that this can be achieved with the help of
bitter level of intercultural communication and understanding the similarities and differences
between different people across different ethnic background. It is also essential to choose a
definite meaning that I believe can help to build the bridge of understanding tolerance and
difference of opinion between people of different cultures.
The economic perspective of culture deals with the matter related to diversity in different
places of multinational organizations. There has been a huge challenge that is encountered by
different types of organization in order to capitalize up on the positive effect of cultural diversity.
The major benefits of this cultural diversity according to me are that it can help to enhance the
skill and knowledge of every employee. It is also possible for an organization to diversify their
business at different level in order to capture reach out to a wider group of audience (Henderson
et al., 2016). I think that the Cultural awareness also please essential parts in making of the
marketing plan as it can help the companies to better communicate with the target group of

audience. This is essential in the context that I agree upon the fact that I have gained knowledge
related to maintaining workplace diversity. This I believe can help to improve upon the
workforce challenges and diversify the potential of the workplace.
Improvement in the communication technology has also helped to rapidly spread
information and various corners of the world. With the increasing popularity of social media and
Internet technology, it is now possible for people across various parts of the world to easily
connect and share their thoughts about various aspects (Liu et al., 2014). As I have been a regular
user of all types of popular social media platforms, I have been able to understand the
importance of this technology in perspective related to improving my cultural awareness.
Nevertheless, I also believe that it is important to improve upon this Internet technology in order
to ensure that digital communication and be used to enhance cultural awareness among people
across the globe.
The democracy of a region has also is strong influence of on the local culture. Many
nations across the globe have witnessed vast demographic changes due to various factors that
include immigration from foreign Nations. This can also occur due to the fact that the modern
society is encountering different type of behavioral changes.
Being a self aware individual, it is possible for me to respect my own cultural value that
is one of the essential components of cultural diversity. The cultural value of the people in
Australia is depended upon the components of the modern forms of lifestyle that is needed to
implement the positive sides of the globalization. Organizations across different parts of
Australia encourage cultural diversity within the workplace, which I believe is one of the major

causes of faster economic development of the nation. Nevertheless, there are certain issues
related to racism that are mainly encountered by Asian and African foreign students in Australia.
Asante (2013), has defined upon the ethical imperative, which is one of the essential parts
of maintaining the cultural diversity among the people. There are various cases that I have come
across during my education course where individual and communities are abused because of
their cultural beliefs and behavior. There are several cases of racial discrimination, which is one
of the major concerns of modern days. Moreover, there are cases of ethical dilemmas within an
organization which needs to be resolved in order to improve upon the rate of productivity.
The teachings related to intercultural communication have been highly important cases
related to giving up on my cultural awareness. This has also helped me to interact easily with
people across diverse culture as I am planning to visit different parts of the globe. It is also
important to mention in the countries that the ethical issues and dilemmas related to cultural
diversity can also be resolved with the help of effective intercultural communication (Samovar et
al., 2014). From my own intercultural experience, it is possible for me to deal with all types of
relevant issues related to the intercultural experience. With the increase in experience in the field
of intercultural communication, this possible for me to improve upon my cultural skills and raise
the level of awareness while interacting with individuals of other culture. The degree course has
also helped me to expand upon my cultural knowledge. This has helped me to understand various
types of skills related to verbal and nonverbal mode of communication, which I can use to easily
interact with people of foreign culture. Hence, I can strongly focus upon the fact that
intercultural communication is one of the essential requirements of enhancing the skills related to
cultural diversity. The fundamental for the intercultural communication is filled up on the belief

that people across diverse culture can co-operate and coordinate with each other in order to
improve upon their existing conditions.
Globalization and diversification
Matusitz and Palermo (2014), have mentioned about the importance of diversification
that is needed to deal with various models related to the globalization. As multinational
corporations all across the globe are diversifying their range of business, it is essential for them
to deal with the components of the globalization. From my learning experience, I do believe that
it is essential for all multinational corporations of modern days to implement special policies,
which will aim to increase the range of potential within the workplace. The concept of
globalization theory is entirely dependent upon the components of cultural diversification.
Globalization is also specified and radical forms can be implied in order to deal with the changes
related to the global capitalization.
I strongly believe that globalization is one of the best ways to promote the cultural values
of a nation. With the help of this component, it is also possible to deal with the positive effects of
cultural diversity. For large-scale multinational corporations, it is only with the help of elements
of globalization that can enable them today is the value of workplace culture and also the brand
image of the company offers various parts of the globe. I have learnt about various companies,
with includes McDonald's, Wal-Mart, Samsung and many more, which have used various
components of cultural diversity within their workplace in order to enhance their brand value
across all parts of the globe.

Conclusion
In the concluding note, it can be said that cultural diversity can be enhanced with the help
of effective intercultural communication. From my personal experience, I have very well
understood the importance of intercultural communication, which is needed to deal with several

cultural component, which have helped large scale companies all across the globe to spread
